Peter’s words at the end of the Gospel—“Lord, who shall we go to? You have the message of eternal life, and we believe; we know that you are the Holy One of God”— should strike a chord in the hearts of all disciples of the Risen Lord. We hear so many contradictory messages in our world of today, all promising easy ways in which to find happiness and new beginnings, but the truth of the matter is that only the way of the cross, following in the footsteps of Christ who went be- fore us, can bring us true and eternal joy. We can go to no one else but Christ for true life and true wisdom.
