Lighting of the Fourth Candle on the Advent Wreath at home Make the Sign of the Cross. A Reading from the Gospel of Luke Mary said to the angel, ‘But how can this come about, since I am a virgin?’ ‘The Holy Spirit will come upon you’ the angel answered ‘and the power of the Most High will cover you with its shadow. And so the child will be holy and will be called Son of God. The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. After a time of silence, all join in prayers of intercession concluding: Our Father. Light the Fourth Candle: Lord Jesus, light of the world, blessed is Gabriel the archangel, who brought good news; blessed is Mary, your mother and ours. Bless your Church preparing for Christmas; and bless us your children, who long for your coming. Amen.
