Recess breaks serve a special purpose in the school routine, and except

in unusual cases, students should not be excused from going outside.

Students who have the flu, heavy cough, or cold should be kept home to

avoid passing on the illness to their class mates.

At recess we are requesting that students bring only nerf –type footballs

for use in the active play areas of the field.

A reminder as we approach the Halloween season of treats, please consider that a number of our students have life threatening allergies to peanuts/nuts. We are promoting food-free celebrations at school and appreciate your support.

When packing lunches and snacks please choose Halloween treats with care and please be extra vigilant to avoid sending those containing nuts or traces of nuts.

LOOK-A-LIKE PRODUCTS TO PEANUT BUTTER

S c h o o l

If your child has

a medical condition

or

a life-threatening

allergy,

please contact

the office

as soon as possible.

Once again, recent inquiries have been received with respect to look-a-like products to peanut butter with the brand name “Peabutter” and “Sunbutter”. These products are made from soy and sunflower seeds and do not contain the peanut protein which causes the anaphylaxis to occur in a person with a life threatening allergy to peanuts and tree nuts. These products are almost identical in colour, consistency, smell and taste to peanut butter. Schools cannot be expected to monitor for student safety when it is impossible to differentiate between these products and peanut butter. Therefore, the Board is requesting that parents DO NOT send their children to school with look-a-like products to peanut butter until the products are available in a colour other than tan, the color of peanut butter.

Should you find that your child has head lice, please notify the school prior to returning to school.

Your child must be readmitted to the school by We Care Home Health Services.

You can contact them at (905) 507-6562 to find the nearest school where the nurse is working and take your child there to be re-checked.

The nurse will give you a note to bring to the school to indicate your child is clear.

Should your child still have head lice, the nurse will go over the best procedures to use.

Due to safety restrictions, the kindergarten side doors must remain closed and locked once

teachers and students have entered the building. We will lock the doors at 8:45 am.

Staff members are not permitted to respond to a knock at the door. On the rare occasion

that your child may arrive late, you are kindly requested to enter through the school’s front

entrance, where office staff will confirm your child’s attendance and then guide him/her to

the classroom. Please do not enter through the daycare doors.

Thank you for dropping off your child at the fence and respecting these safety measures.

Parents who play an active role in their child’s learning and development enhance their child’s overall success and well-being.
