In today’s first reading, God offers mercy and kindness to the Jews after they rebelled against him. Paul, in the second reading, tells of his gratefulness to Jesus Christ. Today’s Gospel is the familiar parable of the prodigal son.

Why Should We Give of Our Time, Talent and Treasure?

23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time Jesus tells the crowd that only those who renounce all of their possessions can be His disciples. Is He truly asking us to give up everything? Perhaps instead He is trying to help us see that everything we think we own is really a gift from God. Good stewards know that and strive to use those gifts accountably.

Domingo XXIII del Tiempo Ordinario Jesús le dice a la multitud que sólo aquellos que renuncian a todos sus bienes pueden ser sus discípulos. ¿Él realmente nos pide renunciar a todo? Tal vez Él está tratando de ayudarnos a ver que todo lo que creemos tener es realmente un regalo de Dios. Los buenos administradores lo saben y tratan de usar esos dones responsablemente.

Calling One, Calling All!!!!!!! The OLMC Church choirs want you to come and sing with us!!! We are a very committed group that loves to sing and loves to give Glory to our God. What better way to give to Him, who gives us all good and perfect gifts, than by singing His praises??? All are welcome .... the English choir resumes rehearsal on Tuesday, September 10 at 6:30 PM in the church. The Spanish choir rehearses on most Tuesdays at 7:00 PM in the

Today … our country seems to worship false gods. We’ve created false gods of “tolerance” and “equality” and “choice.” Instead of worshipping the Lord, we’ve found ways to worship pleasure and vanity—we’ve found ways to worship ourselves. And, like the people of Israel did in Elijah’s time, we’re suffering the effects. Worship of choice leads to abortion and contraception, and the Health and Human Services contraceptive mandate, which threatens our freedom of religion. Worship of money leads to poverty. Worship of “equality” leads to a fundamental rejection of marriage and family. We’re worshipping false gods, and we’re in trouble. … But, like Elijah, the Lord calls us to pray. And to pray in a special way for our country. If we give ourselves to quiet, humble prayer, like Elijah, God’s glory and mercy will be revealed.

Hoy… nuestro país parece adorar dioses falsos. Hemos creado falsos dioses de la “tolerancia”, “igualdad” y “elección”. En vez de adorar al Señor, hemos encontrado maneras de adorar el placer y la vanidad –hemos encontrado la manera de adorarnos a nosotros mismos. Y, al igual que el pueblo de Israel durante el tiempo de Elías, estamos sufriendo los efectos. El culto a la elección lleva al aborto y a la anticoncepción, y al mandato sobre los anticonceptivos del Departamento de Salud y Servicios Humanos que amenaza nuestra libertad religiosa. La adoración del dinero conduce a la pobreza. La adoración de la “igualdad” conduce a un rechazo fundamental del matrimonio y la familia. Estamos adorando a dioses falsos, y tenemos problemas. ... Pero, al igual que Elías, el Señor nos llama a rezar. Y a rezar de modo especial por nuestro país. Si nos entregamos a la oración serena y humilde, al igual que Elías, se revelarán la gloria y la misericordia de Dios.

Auditions for the Apparitions of Our Lady of Guadalupe

We will have auditions on Tuesday, September 24th at 7:00 PM for the youth of our parish. The apparitions of the Virgin of Guadalupe will take place on Thursday, December 12th.
