INFANT BAPTISMS For children under 7 years of age, the sacrament is celebrated the FIRST Sunday of the month at 2:00 pm. The parents must register in the parish office at least 4 weeks prior to the baptism. Both parents and godparents are expected to attend one catechetical session in advance, on the Wednesday before the baptism, at 7:00 pm.

SACRAMENTS OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION Before being fully initiated into the sacramental life of the Church, children over the age of 7 will need catechetical prepa-ration through the RCIC process. Teenagers and adults will par-ticipate in separate RCIA processes.

CONFIRMATION and COMMUNION For those already baptized, preparation for these Sacraments will take place according to the person’s age and knowledge of the Catholic Faith. For further information contact the Office of Faith Formation Program.

MARRIAGES Couples should contact the parish office at least six months in advance to make the proper ar rangements for the Sacrament of Matrimony.

ANOINTING OF THE SICK Please contact the parish office.

RECONCILIATION A priest is available for Confessions on Saturday afternoon from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm. You can also make an individual appoint-ment.

EL BAUTISMO DE NIÑOS Solamente para los niños menores de los 7 años de edad, se celebra el sacramento el SEGUNDO y el CUARTO domingo del mes a las 2:00 pm. Es preciso que los padres se inscriban en la parroquia por lo menos 4 semanas antes del bautismo. Ambos padres y padrinos deberán asistir a una instrucción catequética, la noche del Miercoles anterior al bautizo a las 7:00 pm.

SACRAMENTOS DE LA INICIACIÓN CRISTIANA Con el propósito de participar plenamente en la vida sacramen-tal de la Iglesia, los niños mayores de los 7 años de edad, nece-sitarán prepararse en el proceso de Iniciación Cristiana Para Niños. Los jóvenes y los adultos se preparán separadamente en el proceso del RICA.

CONFIRMACIÓN Y COMUNIÓN Para los que ya están bautizados, la preparación para estos Sacramentos se llevará a cabo de acuerdo con la edad de la persona y su conocimiento de la Fe Católica. Para más infor-mación comunicarse con la Oficina de Formación de la Fe.

MATRIMONIOS La pareja deberá de comunicarse con el despacho pastoral y hacer su solicitud minimo seis meses antes de la fecha de la boda, para entrevistarse con el sacerdote e iniciar la prepara-ción matrimonial.

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK Dear Parishioners, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Why am I saying Merry Christmas? It is the Feast of the Holy Family but it still is Christmas. Didn’t Christmas begin and end on Decem-ber 25th? Commercially yes, spiritually no. Christmas is bigger than one day and bigger than one time spent opening up presents under the Christmas tree. Christmas is a liturgical sea-son in which the church celebrates Christ’s birth for more than two weeks and will end its celebration on January 13th, the Baptism of the Lord. More than that, Christmas is a cele-bration which reminds us that God loves us so much that he came to sanctify or make holy every aspect of our human condition by living it himself and enabling us to live our lives unit-ed with him every moment of every day. Christmas is God with us, Emmanuel. Happy New Year! So how will you spend the end of this calendar year and welcome the beginning of the New Year 2019? My prayer is that we do so with Jesus. Jesus told John, the Evangelist in Revelations 22:13, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.” If we apply this truth to every day of our lives then the end of the year will come with an inner peace that comes from letting God be our starting point and goal for all we do. Let God guide our lives at the end of this year and throughout the coming year. We will not be disappointed. Think of what God is calling you to do this coming year. I hope to see you at Mass either New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day. It will be the Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God and a Holy Day of Obligation. Mary saying yes to Jesus is the perfect model for us, the Church. Let’s celebrate!.

DEL ESCRITORIO DEL PÁRROCO

Queridos Feligreses:

¡Feliz navidad y próspero año nuevo! ¿Por qué estoy diciendo Feliz Navidad? Es la fies-ta de la Sagrada Familia, pero aún es Navidad. ¿No comenzó y terminó la Navidad el 25 de diciembre? Comercialmente sí, espiritualmente no. La Navidad es más grande que un día y más grande que el tiempo dedicado a abrir regalos debajo del árbol de Navidad. La Navi-dad es un tiempo litúrgico en el que la iglesia celebra el nacimiento de Cristo por más de dos semanas y terminará su celebración el 13 de enero, el Bautismo del Señor. Más que eso, la Navidad es una celebración que nos recuerda que Dios nos ama tanto que vino a santificar o santificar cada aspecto de nuestra condición humana al vivirla él mismo y permitirnos vivir nuestras vidas unidas a él en cada momento de cada día. La Navidad es Dios con no-sotros, Emmanuel. ¡Feliz año nuevo! Entonces, ¿cómo pasará el final de este año calendario y dará la bien-venida al comienzo del Año Nuevo 2019? Mi oración es que lo hagamos con Jesús. Jesús le dijo a Juan, el evangelista en Apocalipsis 22:13, "Yo soy el Alfa y la Omega, el primero y el último, el principio y el fin". Si aplicamos esta verdad a cada día de nuestras vidas, entonc-es al final del el año vendrá con una paz interior que viene de dejar que Dios sea nuestro punto de partida y meta para todo lo que hacemos. Deje que Dios guíe nuestras vidas al fi-nal de este año y durante el próximo año. No estaremos decepcionados. Piensa en lo que Di-os te está llamando a hacer este año que viene. Espero verte en la misa, ya sea la víspera de año nuevo o el día de año nuevo. Será la solemnidad de María, la Santa Madre de Dios y un día santo de obligación. María diciendo que sí a Jesús es el modelo perfecto para nosotros, la Iglesia. ¡Celebremos!.

INTENCIONES ESPECIALES

HOME IS WHERE THE FAMILY IS The idea, dream, and reality of family is so strong and durable that we use it to describe all that is best about human gatherings. We speak of the family of nations, of our church and parish families. The greatest compliment we can pay a friend or gracious host is to say that we feel at home with them, we feel part of the family. Families are the first crucibles in which love is tested and tempered. Jesus himself was one of three people who lived in the shadow of each other. This family, like our own, did not always “get it right,” but they always tried to. These three “amateurs” were on holiday, and one of them got lost. Two were worried sick and took great measures to find the third, a boy after all, who was seeking the meaning of his calling. He found his vocation—to do his Father’s work—but he also returned home with his parents.  EN EL HOGAR ESTÁ LA FAMILIA La idea, el sueño y la realidad de lo que es familia es tan fuerte y perdurable que lo usamos para describir lo mejor de las relaciones humanas. Hablamos de una familia de naciones, de nuestra familia eclesial y parroquial. El mejor halago que podemos dar a un amigo o amable anfitrión es decirle que nos sentimos como en casa con su compañía, que nos sentimos parte de la familia. Las familias son el primer crisol en el que se prueba y se fortalece el amor. Jesús mismo fue una de tres perso-nas que vivía a la sombra del otro. Esta familia, como la nuestra, no siempre “lo hacía todo bien”, pero siempre trataba. Estos tres amateurs celebraban un día de fiesta, y uno de ellos se perdió. Los otros dos se preocuparon bas-tante y se esforzaron grandemente para encontrar al tercero, un niño después de todo, que siempre buscaba el sig-nificado de su llamado. Encontró su vocación –hacer la obra del Padre– pero también volvió a casa con sus padres.
