INFANT BAPTISMS For children under 7 years of age, the sacrament is celebrated the FIRST Sunday of the month at 2:00 pm. The parents must register in the parish office at least 4 weeks prior to the baptism. Both parents and godparents are expected to attend one catechetical session in advance, on the Wednesday before the baptism, at 7:00 pm.

SACRAMENTS OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION Before being fully initiated into the sacramental life of the Church, children over the age of 7 will need catechetical prepa-ration through the RCIC process. Teenagers and adults will par-ticipate in separate RCIA processes. CONFIRMATION and COMMUNION For those already baptized, preparation for these Sacraments will take place according to the person’s age and knowledge of the Catholic Faith. For further information contact the Office of Faith Formation Program.

MARRIAGES Couples should contact the parish office at least six months in advance to make the proper ar rangements for the Sacrament of Matrimony.

You are invited to pray for vocations. Parishioners will meet before our outdoor statue of Our Lady of Fatima to pray a rosary for a greater response to vocations among the faithful. The rosary will be prayed in English on Tues-days at 6:45 PM., in Spanish on Saturdays at 9:15 AM and Bilingual on the last Sunday of the month at 11:45 AM.

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK

Dear Parishioners, In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. This is the way we as Catholics begin our prayers. Our Creator, Redeemer and Sanctifier are names that we can use to refer to each person of the Holy Trinity but that does not fully contain who they are. The Trinity, whom we contemplate this Sunday, is the divine union of the God head who is continually inviting us to know and participate in the fullness of life with them. We use the words of the sign of the cross and its very motion when we make the sign of the cross to help raise our minds and hearts to the wonderful, all powerful and loving presence of the All Mighty. This past week, the sign of the cross was used to bless young people who graduated from Msgr. McClancy Memorial High School last Tuesday and the eighth grade class who graduated from our own Elementary School last Friday. We ask for God to bless these young people in a solemn way on the special occasion of their moving forward in life. When we make the sign of the cross over someone, we are placing that person in the hands of God. The hands of God is awesome and it is a figurative way of saying that we offer someone to God to be received and cared for. The simple act of calling on Father, Son and Holy Spirit is at the same time an expression of intimacy and transcendence. God is closer to us than we can imagine and at the same time his presence and goodness is far beyond what we can im-agine. Another group that we give special attention to this weekend is our fathers. This Sunday is Fathers Day. We give thanks to God for all our fathers living and deceased. There are bio-logical fathers, step fathers as well as spiritual fathers. On this day we can ask to bless men who have this important role in life. It is a position that calls for caring of those entrusted to you. We need God’s help to imitate him in his unlimited love for us. May God bless all of us and especially our fathers on this day. Happy Fathers Day to all our fathers.

Transformational Leadership School Faith In New York is a community organizing federation sponsoring a Transformational Leadership School for residents of Queens. This school is to serve to help develop those who are interested in being involved in advocating for important social justice issues in our communities. The cost is $150 for a five month series of classes.

DEL ESCRITORIO DEL PÁRROCO Queridos feligreses, En el nombre del Padre, el Hijo y el Espíritu Santo. Es así como nosotros los católicos comenzamos nuestras oraciones. Nuestro Creador, Redentor y Santificador son nombres que usamos para referirnos a cada persona de la Santísima Trinidad, pero que no contienen completamente quiénes son. La Trinidad, a quien contemplamos este domingo, es la unión divina de la cabeza de Dios que continuamente nos invita a conocer y participar con ellos en la plenitud de la vida. Usamos las palabras del signo de la cruz y su propio movimiento cu-ando hacemos el signo de la cruz para ayudar a elevar nuestras mentes y corazones a la maravillosa, poderosa y amorosa presencia del Todo Poderoso. El signo de la cruz la semana pasada se usó para bendecir a los jóvenes que se grad-uaron de Mons. McClancy Memorial High School el martes pasado y tambien a la clase de octavo grado que se graduó de nuestra propia escuela primaria el viernes pasado. Pedimos a Dios que bendiga a estos jóvenes de manera solemne en la ocasión especial de su avance en la vida. Cuando hacemos la señal de la cruz sobre alguien, ponemos a esa per-sona en las manos de Dios. Las manos de Dios son impresionantes y es una forma figurati-va de decir que ofrecemos a alguien a Dios para que lo recibamos y lo cuidemos. El simple hecho de invocar al Padre, al Hijo y al Espíritu Santo es, al mismo tiempo, una expresión de intimidad y trascendencia. Dios está más cerca de nosotros de lo que podemos imaginar y, al mismo tiempo, su presencia y bondad están muy lejos de lo que podemos imaginar. Otro grupo al que prestamos especial atención este fin de semana son nuestros padres. Este domingo es el día del padre. Demos gracias a Dios por todos nuestros padres vivos y fallecidos. Hay padres biológicos, padres de paso así como padres espirituales. En este día podemos pedir bendecir a los hombres que tienen este importante papel en la vida. Es una posición que exige el cuidado de los que te han sido confiados. Necesitamos la ayuda de Dios para imitarlo en su amor ilimitado por nosotros. Que Dios nos bendiga a todos y espe-cialmente a nuestros padres en este día. Feliz Día del Padre a todos nuestros padres.
