WELCOMESolihull College has a highly dedicated Schools Liaison team that works in partnership with schools, sixthforms and other services to raise the awareness of further and higher educa!on to young people.

We provide a wide range of ac!vi!es on loca!on and here at the College. We aim to inform young peopleabout the range of op!ons available to them a#er school in order for them to make that all importantdecision for their future.

This brochure outlines the services that we provide. We are also available to support your ac!vi!es such asassemblies, parents’ evenings and career conven!ons for years 9, 10 and 11.

She also a%ends our annual careersconven!on, 'Life a#er Langley days', where sheprovides careers related presenta!ons to ourstudents.

A recent tour of Solihull College, for our year 10students, clearly showed Claire's passion for theCollege, and her professionalism and knowledgeof careers educa!on is clear for all to see. We lookforward to working with Claire again in theforthcoming academic year.”

Woodlands CampusThere’s a buzz about Woodlands that makes it an exciting, hands-on place to learn. Recentlydoubled in size, it’s bursting with career-focused courses that offer the chance for studentsto perfect their skills. Boasting six new workshops for cars, motorcycles, engines and MOTs,in addition to our existing Engineering courses, Woodlands Campus now incorporate a newstate-of-the-art specialist centre for students on all our construction programmes includingmulti-craft, bricklaying, painting & decorating, plumbing, plastering and carpentry.

ACTIVITIESSolihull College has two campuses. Our Blossomfield Campus is situated in the South of Solihull, with theWoodlands Campus situated in the North. All of our ac!vi!es are available throughout the academic year.

TASTER DAYSYear 10 and 11Taster days allow students to experience a subject that they are interested in before they make their finaldecision. Tasters are available in all subject areas and take place here at the College.

We can provide a number of tasters at any one !me for groups of up to 20 pupils per session.

WORKSHOPSYear 10 and 11Workshops are tailored to suit individual subject areas and can take place in your school. Our staff willprovide a prac!cal ac!vity which will give an insight into the course and the careers available within theindustry.

Workshops are available for all subject areas for groups of up to 20.

COLLEGE VISITS AND TOURSYear 9, 10 and 11We can arrange for groups of students and teachers to visit the college to have a tour of the campus. This isa great opportunity for students to view the classrooms, workshops and on-site facili!es offered at thecollege as well as have a presenta!on about the courses and services we offer.

DRAGON’S DENThis ac!vity is for students interested in studyingBusiness. The ac!vity provides students with theopportunity to work effec!vely as a team to createa business of their own. As part of the task,students will be asked to present their businessidea. Teams with the best business idea will win aprize.Business

GARDEN DESIGNThe career routes within the Hor!culture industryare vast, so we’ve invented a great way to shedlight on these. Students will be provided with abrief to design a garden feature. The winner willbe invited to the Blossomfield campus to maketheir design a reality.Hor!culture

WHAT NOT TO WEARFor students interested in Art & Design we aregiving them the chance to be involved in our ‘RedCarpet’ taster. Students are invited to theBlossomfield campus to work in groups and createa ‘Red Carpet’ ou&it for a celebrity of their choice.Art & Design: Fashion

EXTREME MAKEOVERThis is an exci!ng opportunity for students toexperience our state-of-the-art hair and beautyfacili!es. Teams are asked to create a hairstyle andapply make-up to a member of their team. Don’tworry, there’s no surgery involved. The teams arethen judged by our Hair & Beauty staff for theircrea!vity and the winning team receives a prize.Hair & Beauty

THE APPRENTICEAs seen on TV, but we’ve added our own li%letwist. Working in teams, students will be asked todesign and promote a new chocolateconfec!onary product. Our Business tutors will beon hand to judge the students throughout theevent and on their final presenta!on.Business

ART STARThis taster will give school students theopportunity to show off their talent by showcasingtheir art work in our art department at theBlossomfield campus. We’ll be asking students tosend in a dra# of their crea!on and the best threewill be invited into the college to create a finalcopy where it will be on show for a year.Art & Design
