ADULT / TEEN AQUATICS PROGRAMS Aqua Fitness: Aqua Fit & Aqua Zumba are coed water exercise classes that build cardiovascular fitess, muscle tone and flexibility. FREE for Y members. Stroke Clinic: Heavy focus on mechanics and technique. Drills & progressive practices work toward mastery of all four strokes. Masters Swim Program: Swim training for adults. At the Y, our goal is to make sure that everyone can have access to what we have to offer. That’s why everyone is welcome to join through our “Membership for All” program, which ensures that you can enjoy the Y and remain within your budget, with reduced monthly fees based on your total household income. PRESCHOOL SWIMIn May and September, visit our interactive splash pad with your little one from 10am-12pm Tuesdays and Thursdays for this special swim time ages 5 and younger.

YOUTH SPORTS & FITNESSOur programs focus on building skills in a positive environment. This allows children of all experience levels to participate and learn sportsmanship and teamwork. Y members save up to 50% on all youth programs.

• Youth Sports Leagues: Offered year-round, including Soccer, Basketball, T-Ball, Baseball, Volleyball and Flag Football.

• Sports Clinics: Learn or brush up on sport-specific skills prior to the start of a season, or just come to have fun!

• F.A.S.T. (Fit Adolescent Safely Training): Youth ages 12-15 learn how to workout safely and effectively within the fitness center. It introduces basic muscle anatomy, exercise concepts and guidelines & gym etiquette/safety practices. Program completion required to use fitness center. FREE to Y members.

• Tae Kwon Do: Beginner to advanced martial arts techniques and exercise. Teaches discipline, flexibility, strength, focus and character values through the art. Uniform mandatory after first session and can be purchased through instructor. One month introductory class is free to Y members. (Age 5+)

• Dance: Students will develop gross motor skills, rhythm, and coordination in this progressive, skill-building program. Classes will also help expand listening skills, create confidence and exude the love of dance. Beginner and Advanced Ballet and Hip Hop offered for children age 4-12.

• Gymnastics: We offer a full range of progressive, skill-building gymnastics classes for girls and boys, from parent/child and basic tumbling to intermediate skills. All classes are co-ed and a 1 or 2 day a week option is available.

• Youth Yoga: Led by an experienced Yoga teacher, your children will learn the basics of a yoga practice. The benefits of yoga for children include emotional independence, spatial awareness and mental focus. (Age 4+)

PLAY!

• Value-Added Classes: East Communities YMCA provides many classes, free to Y members. These non-progressive classes provide fun and enrichment for children of all ages. Class offerings vary throughout the year and include classes such as: Y Art on the Spot, Y Adaptive Sports, Y Dance, Y Improv, and Y Crafts.

• Guitar: Beginner and intermediate guitar classes help your young musician thrive. Individual lessons available by request. Contact [email protected] for more information

• Mini Camps: Make summer fun for your child by enrolling in our mini camps. These week-long, half day camps offer fun for all ages through theme-based activities. Such camps include Superhero Camp, Princess Scientists, Sports Camp and more!

• Early Childhood Experience: East Communities is expanding our A.M. early childhood programming. Whether it is through Mi Mundo, Music & Movement, or other Mommy & Me programs, your little one will safely explore, grow & thrive at the Y.

• Garden & Outdoor Play: Come grow with us!! The East Communities is currently embarking on the creation of a natural playground, complete with whimsical play and instructional gardens for children and adults alike. Computer Lab: Need some help navigating the Internet or setting up an email account? In the fun, informal setting Y staff will be on-hand to provide basic instruction.

ACTIVE OLDER ADULTS (AOA)

Most Active Older Adult classes are FREE for Y members, including:

• Senior Strength: Strength training designed for seniors, with a special emphasis on light strength training, balance, mobility and flexibility.

• Aqua Fitness: Open to all ages but ideal for older adults, this coed water exercise class builds cardiovascular fintess, muscle tone and flexibility.

• Active Older Adults Events: East Communities Y will be offering plenty of opportunities for seniors to connect in 2016. Events will include potlucks, speaker series, and other social events. Contact Welcome Center for more info.

FITSTART

• Y Active: Here at the Y, we never focus on one part of wellness. We always use a holistic lens when viewing a healthy lifestyle, and we believe that begins with an intentional focus on strengthening your mind, body and spirit. Our wellness orientation program – Y Active – supports your health by offering a menu of options to not only help you become comfortable with your YMCA branch, but to also map out an achievable path towards your goals. This menu of options includes personal training consultations, equipment orientations, fitness assessments, and our F.A.S.T. program for young teens.

HEALTHY LIVING

• LIVESTRONG at the YMCA: A physical activity and well-being program designed to help adult cancer survivors achieve their holistic health goals. Check website for dates/times.

• YMCA Diabetes Prevention Program: One-year program designed to help those at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes adopt and maintain healthy lifestyles by eating healthier and increasing physical activity. Check website for dates/times.

• Workshops & Series: Looking to deepen your yoga practice, learn more about nutrition or become more comfortable with a piece of exercise equipment? East Communities Y will host several workshops and series in 2017 to address popular health trends and topics. Contact the branch for topics and dates.

GROUP TRAINING

• TRX: Class combines suspension training and bodyweight exercises to give you a functional, effective workout. Class times vary.

• 0 to 5K/10K Training: Train for the ‘Run for the Water 5K’ with the support of a coach & your fellow trainees. Spring goal race is Cap10K and Run for the Water 5K in the fall. Check website for training dates and times.
