Pyhä-Luosto National Park

In Pyhä-Luosto National Park you can hike in the summer and ski in the winter. You can also go snowshoeing, snowmobiling or to a husky safari, if you like.

Near the Luosto fell center, in the middle of beautiful Lappish sceneries, you will find the only operative amethyst mine in Europe. They say it’s the most beautiful mine in the world.

The international Gold Museum presents the history of Finnish gold, as well as major gold rushes. Every visitor can try their luck at panning for gold, and there are guides for help.

Sculptor Ensio Seppänen desinged this statue in 1970, located in the center of Sodankylä. The bronze statue presents reindeer husbandry, which still is one of the most important trades in Sodankylä.
