OUR HEART - INTRODUCTION
Our heart is one of the most valuable organ.
It works continuously pumping the blood to
supply fresh oxygen to other organs
Many ignore to take care of their heart.
The result – heart attack or stroke.
GOOD NEWS FOR EVERYONE
The good news is, the control is within our
reach.
Heart diseases can be avoided and it is not too
difficult to do.
Most of the non-communicable diseases (NCD)
such hypertension, diabetes, obesity and high
cholesterol are risk factors for heart disease.
START TO CARE FOR OUR HEART
Start with understanding the mechanics behind
the heart diseases.
the heart disease is not actually a disease by
its own. It is actually a set of condition that
affect the functions and structure of the heart.
The easiest causal that can be controlled is the
level of cholesterol.
BASIC INFORMATION ABOUT CHOLESTEROL
It is a waxy substance manufacturer by our
body for special purpose.
It is used to produce certain hormones,
needed to make cells wall and protect the
nerves system.
Our liver produces about 75% of the
cholesterol.
The balance comes from the foods that we eat.
OUR CHELOSTEROL – THE GOOD AND THE BAD
ONES
The LDL is known as bad cholesterol. It carries
the cholesterol from the liver to the cells.
Excessive amount of build-up in the blood
vessel causes blockage.
The HDL or good cholesterol will carry it from
the cell to the liver, where it will broken down
and passed out as a waste products.
THE EFFECTS OF BAD CHOLESTEROL
The build-up of the LDL cholesterol on the walls
of arteries are called plague.
If the plague cracks, it will cause a blood clots
which block the flow of the blood.
If the flow of blood to the heart is blocked, it
will cause a heart attack,
If the blockage is on the blood flow to the brain,
then we have the stroke.
THE DISEASE
For coronary artery disease, the plague may
remain stable and cause angina or chest pain.
An attack will occur when the plague breaks
resulting to blood clog and obstruct the flow to
the heart.
For cerebrovascular disease, an atherosclerosis
may occur in the blood vessel leading to the
brain leading to stroke.
THE TWO BEST WAYS TO CONTROL IT.
PROPER DIET
Increase:-
- healthy food like fruits and vegetables
- whole grain bread or rice
- cereal such as oats
- cook using bake, roast or boil.
Decrease
- Saturated food like cheese or whole milk
- salt and seasoning.
- dressing and coconut.
PROPER EXERCISE
Avoid the inactive life style. It is rather too easy to fall into this trip, giving the modern facilities available.
- start it with 30 min per day.
- start to do the house work.
All the efforts to care for our heart will be worth. Managing the level of cholesterol is one of the easiest method.
