About the Having A Say Conference

Having a Say Conference usually has an average attendance of 1000 participants each year from all across Victoria and every State of Australia. However, with Covid we are taking the conference online to complement a smaller onsite live audience of around 400 -500, but if restrictions change will we increase this number.

This will be ‘take two’ due to Covid, but despite the hiccup, Having a Say 2022 will be its usual vibrant extraordinary ‘experience’. Some groups across Australia will be running their own ‘HaS days’ and joining in online in sessions, running their own Come & Tries and sharing their stories and achievements. Topics will include the pointy end of issues that impact the lives of people with disabilities and their families/supporters, such as, updates on changes to the NDIS, finding jobs and real inclusion in the community.

Having a Say conference provides people with a disability with opportunities to experience new things, to contribute, learn, present, perform, to be inspired by their peers and celebrate achievement.

Aims of the Having a Say Conference

The Having a Say Conference aims to empower people with disability through:

• Opportunities to celebrate ability and achievement

• Being part of the planning and running of the conference

• Participation in an annual conference in a rural location of Victoria

• The opportunity to ‘have a say’ about issues that affect their lives

• Opportunities to be heard by politicians, government, and service providers

• The opportunity to meet people from around Victoria, Australia and overseas
