St. Vincent De Paul: Second Call

St. Vincent De Paul is a group of volunteers who operate in many Catholic parishes in many countries who lend a hand and a caring heart to many who experience great need in our own neighborhoods. Some parishes are very active in this way but our Sacred Heart group has been ebbing away and would have expired except for the herculean efforts of just a few parish-ioners. I want to rebuild our St Vincent group and this is my second call: would you be willing to take the training needed to take on the mind of St Vincent De Paul right here among us. Let me hear from you at [email protected].

Thank you—let us join in helping others among us who are in need.

ADMINISTRATION & STEWARDSHIP

MASK REQUIREMENT

As we continue to provide a safe environment, masks are now required during all indoor Masses, and inside any building on Sacred Heart campus. We are following COVID guidance provided by the Archdiocese of Seattle and the State of Washington. We appreciate our parishioner’s efforts in keeping each other safe as we navigate through this challenging time.

4-in-One Wrap-Up

The 4-in-One Campaign included a complete replacement of the church roof and ceiling, upgrades to the interior lighting, and recladding of the bell tower. It was a major construction project that never would have happened without the generous donations of our parishioners.

Thanks to the prompt donations of our parishioners, we were able to utilize our building loan similar to a bridge loan. Instead of slowly paying down the $617,000 loan over the 15-year loan period, we have already paid off the loan.

The total cost of the project was $3,022,518.13. We have already received $2,663,925.52 in contributions from parishioners. We also applied our Called to Serve as Christ rebate of $95,243.35 to the 4-in-One campaign. The remaining $263,349.26 was borrowed from parish savings.

If you have completed your pledge toward the 4-in-One – Thank you! If you are still completing your pledge, thank you for your consistent support. At this time, as long as our current outstanding pledges are paid, then we will be able to replenish our savings account.

From an administrative perspective, we will remove the 4-in-One from OSV (our online giving platform) and stop sending 4-in-One envelopes with your monthly envelopes in the next couple months.

Thank you again. We are so grateful for your consistent support of the parish!

Pastoral Assistant for Administration

STEWARDSHIP OF

TIME AND TALENT

We are so grateful to so many of you for sharing with us a part of your faith journey. May we gain inspiration and grow in our desire to share ourselves with others. Please prayerfully reflect on your God-given talents and consider serving in one of our parish’s many ministries. Please complete the Time and Talent form that was mailed to you or visit www.sacredheart.org to complete the form online.

BLESSING OF ANIMALS-BRING YOUR PETS THIS SUNDAY, OCTOBER 3 at 12:30 PM

Sacred Heart Church-Lower Parking Lot If your pet is shy, we will have a drive-through blessing

available at 12:45 PM All animals must be on a leash or an appropriate pet

carrier for the safety of other animals. Stuffed animals welcome!

Blessed are you, Lord God, maker of all living creatures. On the fifth and sixth days of creation, you called into being

the fish of the sea, birds of the air, and animals of the land. You inspired Saint Francis to call all the animals his broth-ers and sisters. We ask that you bless the animals that are dear to us. In them we experience the majesty of your cre-ation. By the power of your love, may they continue to live

and thrive according to your plan. May we always praise you for your creation. Blessed are you, Lord our God, in all

your creation. We offer this prayer through Christ our Lord. Amen.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH

November Meals for the Homeless Sign Up’s are Here!

For many years, our Sacred Heart community has generously provided nightly meals for the month of November, to those in need who are sheltered at First Congregational Church in Bellevue. Look for the table in the Narthex where you can learn more about this organization and the tremendous support they offer to homeless men on the Eastside. Once again, we will be using an online program called SignUp Genius for those wanting to sign up to supply a food item (main dish, side dish or dessert).
