O’Sullivan has reduced VOC emissions by:
– > 70% since 2002
Participant of the Early Action Compact commitment & Public Outreach
– > 90% over-all reduction in VOC emissions since 1988
Today, O’Sullivan contributes less than 1%
to the county’s total VOC emissions.

Encourage ride sharing. Locals can ride bike or walk. No lawn mowing or small engine usage. No solvent reclaiming (due to diesel generator
and VOC loss) . No engine idling of trucks/cars. Refuel forklift trucks at night. Adjust production schedules

What can EMPLOYEES do to reduce VOC and NOx on Ozone Action Days (short-term)?
Ride options (friends, bike, or public)--have phone numbers and options readily available.--have a copy of the public transportation schedule.
No engine idling more than 30 seconds. Avoid long drive thrus (park and go inside). Fill your gas tank in the evening, do not top-off tank, avoid spills. Do all errands in one trip (take a friend). Mow the grass or use paints and aerosols another day.

What can O’SULLIVAN and EMPLOYEES do to reduce VOC and NOx Long-term?
Practice the above on a regular basis where feasible plus:
Keep your vehicles tuned up. Use energy-conserving oil. Keep tires properly inflated. Accelerate gradually, maintain speed, and use cruise control on highway. Work to develop low VOC and non-VOC coatings (On-site R&D lab) Plus other EPA recommendation listed on their web site.

• O’Sullivan receives forecast from EPA, DEQ, & ValleyAirNow.
