The park is located in the Bavarian Forest in 1200 meters altitude. The area is about 2400 ha. 1200 people are working in the national park.

The park was founded by Mr. Eisemann in 1969.
It was founded in order to keep the infrastructure.

It drills into the bark and eats parts of the inner side of the tree. It lies down larvas there and they eat the bark.

A history mentioned that the devil wanted to build a house on the top of the Lusen. He put stones in the barrow and climbed up the Lusen. When the midday bell rang in the valley, the devil was so frightened that the whole stones fell on the mountain in such a way like it is today. The devil was so frightened that he never returns.
