Garith joined the OsseoLions Club over 11 years agobecause he’s always believed ingiving back to his community.

Garith has been instrumen-tal in serving at all Osseo Lionsfunctions in addition to trans-porting the club trailer to theLions Roar, St. Vincent’sHarvest Festival and to the newOktoberfest Celebration inOsseo. He positions the trailerin exactly the spot where it isneeded at each one of the spe-cific celebrations. He is alsoresponsible for maintenance ofthe trailer and storage of the

contents from event to event. Garith Anderson Trucking

was started in Osseo in 1963 and in 1996 it was moved to a new facility in Rogerswhere Garith continues to operate a very successful operation.

For 15 years, Garith has also provided shipping, handling and storage for CampCourage and Camp Friendship building and maintenance supplies such as concreteblock, flooring and roof trusses. He transports these items from the manufacturer tostorage and then to the building site when the camps are ready to use them at no costto the non-profit organizations. These camps provide seasonal camping experiencesto children experiencing physical and mental difficulties.

Camp Courage and Camp Friendship also provide training opportunities for stu-dents entering the medical field. On occasion Garith has stored these supplies inexcess of two years.

Garith grew up in Duluth and after graduating from high school in 1961 he joinedthe Navy Construction Battalion and was shipped to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Aftertwo years in Cuba he was reassigned to Antarctica. He went from a temperature of115 degrees above to 72 degrees below zero in one day.

After his Navy career, Garith joined his father in his trucking firm, which he latertook over.

Garith’s wife Sharon also assists the Osseo Lions Club. Every year for the past sixyears Sharon assists in counting the funds during the Lions Roar. She has spent longhours counting the money to ensure deposits match the funds and accounts all matchup at the conclusion of the event. The Osseo Lions are always grateful for her sup-port.

The Osseo Lions Club is proud to have Garith Anderson a long-standing memberof our organization and this year’s Lions Roar Grand Marshal.

Garith Anderson is the OsseoLions 2011 Grand Marshal
