Having opcmtcd Mustangs with 442 Squadron d w h g the war, not surprisingly Cnnada showed interest in this aircraft, and soon aftcr tbc end of thc war 100 P-SIDs were acquired, rhcst: serving with h r h regular and auxil- iary units, incIuding 410,419, 415,4I6 and 417 Squadrons until 1956.

Saurh Ajrican Air Force Anothur Commonwealth squadron also operated in

Korca with Mustangs, this being 2 (Flying Cheetah) Squadron. S.A.A.F.; rhis unit arrivcd in Nwcmbcr 1950, having pickrd up thcir Mustangs from the U.S.A.F. en route in Japan, joining the 18th Fighter-Bomber Wing, U.S.A.F.. The squadron was suppIied with 95 F-5IDs (as the n~rcraft had been rc-designated) during their sul' in Korca, lasing 74 in combat, two being shot down by MiG 15s. The South African Mustangs took an active

-par1 in ground artack missions until January 1953, when thcy werc rcplaccd by F-86 Sabres.

Royal New Zedand Air Force Another air force in the Pacihc arm to receive Mus-

tangs w a s th-t R.N.Z.A.F., 30 P:SlDs.bcing supplied in 1945. 131tst' did not go into service st once, being stored for somc months, but u'crc later issucd to Nos. 1, 2, 3 and 4 Squadrons, remaining on strength until 1951, although it is d k c I y that any of these units had more than six aircraft on strength at any one time.
