Active shooter situations are unpredictable and evolve quickly. All employees can help prevent and prepare for potential active shooter situations. is presentation provides guidance to individuals, including managers and employees, so they can prepare to respond to an active shooter situation. e presentation, intended for non-law enforcement employees, provides recommendations should one be confronted with an active shooter situation. A letter arrives from IDES announcing an impending unem- ployment insurance audit. Now what do you do? Rex will briefly discuss the audit process and how that will impact your operation. He will detail what the auditor will ask to see and why they are asking. e biggest issue is misclassification of workers, so he will cover the ramifications of unemployment law and business use of “independent contractors.” ere are some proactive steps your business or clients may want to take regarding internal review before you ever have an audit. Finally, Rex will explain your protest rights should you receive an adverse finding. Recent changes to the Affordable Care Act present employ- ers with a variety of challenges. Zach Gay will help you meet these challenges by explaining what employers need to be aware of and what the new requirements are. He will provide an ACA timeline through 2018 (for both small and large employers) and will review tools you can use for financial analysis and for FTE tracking and reporting. He will also discuss cost containment strategies for both fully insured and self-funded groups, level-funding and simpli- fied self-insured solutions, group medical stop loss captive programs, and workforce and absence management techniques. Chet’s presentation will review the complete OSHA inspection process, starting with what to do when a compliance officer shows up at your door through an employer’s options regarding any citations and penalties in the inspection report. He will also review frequently cited OSHA violations in general industry, what employers should know about multi-employer work site rules, and an employer’s obligations if an employee has an accident.
