  • Tree

Initial research into existing tree design that experiments with different structures, materials and shapes that are sustainable. The structures heavily followed a triangle lead shapes to assemble the trees, which influenced the production of brief.

    Materials

The trees experiment with card, foam board, wood and paper which are all sustainable materials that effectively execute high end and creative outcomes.

    Visual Research02

  • Crafting

To create the tree, the initial material used was card. By crafting triangles the design concept was to assemble the tree design together by incorporating other material such as wire to hold the sections together.

Due to the card material initially not being robust, alternative materials such as foam board were used following a similar process to assemble the Intial shape of the tree.

    Assembling

Incisions into the centre of the triangles where to made to stack the triangles on top of one another to create the tree shape.

Squares and circles where cut out to act as boards for the business cards to be stacked upon.

  • Sustainable Tree

Pushing the brief further the tree was outsourced to woodwork to create the final design from the foam board mock up. Circle holdalls where created opposed to the initial experiment with squares to create a more realistic Christmas tree.

    Concept

Commuitree is a tree that hold business cards and QR code stars, to enable the Holbeck Village audience be aware of other businesses and to network. Festive pin stripe ties are attached to the tree as an alternative to tradition decorations and to allow the business cards to sit. The tree is made from two structures with circle towers to enable other cards to rest onto.
