Background

“Whatever Rotary may mean to us, to the world it will be known by the results it achieves.”

~ Paul Harris

Rotary History

• For more than 110 years, Rotary members have been addressing challenges around the world.

• Grassroots at the core, Rotary links 1.2 million members to form an organization of international scope. It started with the vision of one man — Paul Harris. The Chicago attorney formed the Rotary Club of Chicago on 23 February 1905, so professionals with diverse backgrounds could exchange ideas, form meaningful, lifelong friendships, and give back to their communities.

Rotary Three Key Traits

• We’re truly international. Today, members in nearly every country work to solve some of our world’s most challenging problems.

• We persevere in tough times. During World War II, Rotary clubs in Austria, Germany, Italy, Japan, and Spain were forced to disband. Despite the risks, many continued to meet informally, and after the war, Rotary members came together to rebuild their clubs and their countries.

• We’re committed to service, and we’re not afraid to dream big and set bold goals.

ORU History

• In 1961 Oral Roberts envisioned an education for everyone around the world with the challenges…1. Educate the ‘whole person’

• Spirit, Mind, and Body

2. Reach into every person’s world!

3. Challenge everyone to ‘Make No Little Plans’ to reach the world.

ORU Vision – Reaching 90 Countries

"Raise up your students to hear My voice, to go where My light is dim, where My voice is heard small, and My healing power is not known, even to the uttermost bounds of the earth. Their work will exceed yours, and in this I am well pleased."

ORU Mission – Reaching 90 Countries

"To build Holy Spirit-empowered leaders through whole person education to impact the world with God’s healing.”

Unique Space in Time

• Telephone took 75 years to reach 50 million people.

• Radio took 38 years to reach 50 million people.

• Television took 13 years to reach 50 million people.

• The Internet took 4 years to reach 50 million people.

• Facebook took 3.5 years to reach 50 million people.

• Augmented Reality took only 38 Days to reach 50 million people.

Unique Space in Time

• An electrons is one billionth of an atom and can move at speed of light.

• Digital electrons can reach every inch of earth in less than 18-seconds.

• What if we could package digital electrons into useful pieces of intelligence and send them to every square inch of the earth.

• What if we could see electrons as intelligence and deconstruct and reconstruct them for a unique learning experience that can instantly be sent around the world.

• We would in essence be recreating the learning and education experience for the unique space in time we live.

Virtual Reality

Virtual reality (VR) is an artificial, computer-generated simulation or recreation of a real life environment or situation. It immerses the user by making them feel like they are experiencing the simulated reality firsthand, primarily by stimulating their vision and hearing.

Page 21: ORU Rotary Club Presentation Michael_Mathews

Augmented Reality Augmented reality (AR) is a technology that

layers computer-generated enhancements

atop an existing reality in order to make it

more meaningful through the ability to interact

with it. AR is developed into apps and used on

mobile devices to blend digital components

into the real world in such a way that they

enhance one another, but can also be told

apart easily.

The GLC is Perfectly Located in the History of Technology

• The GLC can transfer in and out one billion bits of information per second. Which is…• 416; 300-page text books every second; which is the

content of 36-million text books per day.

The GLC is Unique Space in Knowledge Transfer

"When wireless is perfectly applied the whole earth will be converted

into a huge brain, which in fact it is, all things being particles of a real

and rhythmic whole. We shall be able to communicate with one

another instantly, irrespective of distance. …We shall see and hear

one another as perfectly as though we were face to face, despite

intervening distances of thousands of miles; and the instruments

through which we shall be able to do his will be amazingly simple

compared with our present telephone. A man will be able to carry one in his vest pocket." - ~Nikola Tesla, 1926

The GLC is Located Perfectly in the History of Knowledge Transfer

The GLC was designed to instantaneously transfer whole person education via digital bits around the world, leveraging wireless, telepresence, and augmented and virtual reality --- all with the global common denominator of a smart phone.

Page 27: ORU Rotary Club Presentation Michael_Mathews

The GLC is Located Perfectly in the History of Education

• One multi-purpose room.• Six classrooms completely automated for

instantaneous connections around the world.• Two Virtual Reality classrooms/Labs.• Tulsa’s largest recording studio. • World-class enterprise edition of Augmented

and Virtual Reality.

Unique Space in Knowledge Transfer

The entire earth will be filled with the knowledgeof the Glory of the Lord as the water covers the sea. ~Habakkuk 2:14

Through the GLC using the new paradigms in technology can send knowledge around the world -- so people can see the Glory of the Lord.
