(The last Mass out at our chapel in Melrose before summer break was on May 20th. God-willing we will start up with Mass out there again in the fall, but we need people who can commit to supporting and building up the community in

Melrose. The Blessed Sacrament is still reserved in the St. Catherine’s Melrose chapel which is open for prayer 24/7).

will take place in Taos, New Mexico at

Memorial to the Unborn

By now, most of you have probably noticed the monument that has been erected by

the main door of the church. This monument is a Memorial to the Unborn and it is an

Eagle Scout project for Carson Ellis. When he was deciding what his project

would be, he wanted to do something for his church. There were several suggestions

made but when he heard of this memorial, he immediately knew it was what he

wanted to do. He wanted this monument to remind people about the importance

of an unborn baby’s life and to always choose life for a child. He realized that this

Memorial to the Unborn will have a permanent place at his church and will affect

his community. For this, he is extremely proud….and so are we! Thank you Carson!

For winning the 2018 St. Francis of Assisi Award!!! The

St. Francis of Assisi Award is the highest honor given in

our Archdiocese for outstanding service to the Church.

A special word of thanks from Fr. Simon:

It has been such a joy and pleasure to be here with you all, to live here and be a part of your

journeys of faith these past three years. I simply cannot thank you all enough for your

generosity and your support as I embark on this new phase of ministry in the Church. Please

forgive me all my many shortcomings and please forgive me for all of the things that I could

have done better. “Be merciful just as your Heavenly Father is merciful” (Luke 6:36). Don’t

forget to be merciful to your priests too! You all have been so good to me and I can’t

possibly say anything other than thank you for the bottom of my heart. Please plan to come

to the parish potluck/picnic/little-farewell-party here on Sunday June 10th, at 11:45AM.

Hope to see you then, which will is also the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart, our parish’s

patronal feast day! A perfect day to be together and celebrate with your parish family!

CCD Registration / Registración para Catecismo

We are now registering for CCD classes, Kindergarten through Confirmation through adult/RCIA,

for the 2018-2019 year. If you would like to register your child or yourself, please visit the parish

office during office hours and fill out a registration form at your convenience. Remember, classes

start in August so take advantage and register early!

Estamos ya haciendo las registraciones para las platicas de catecismo del año que viene, grados

Kínder a Confirmación, para año 2018-2019. Si quieres registrase o registrar a su niño/s, por

favor visita la oficina de la parroquia y llena una forma de registración cuando puedas.

Recuerda que las platicas empiezan en agosto. Por favor aproveche de la oportunidad de

Sacred Heart Prayer Warriors!

If you or someone you know is in need of prayer, please contact Mary Shockley (575)799-6402. She

will place that individual that is in need of prayer into a circle of prayer. Parishioners of Sacred Heart

Church will then pray for those individuals to Almighty God. This is a wonderful ministry and privi-

lege for us to be able to pray for you. Please do not go another day without someone praying for you

or someone you know that truly needs it!

that the Casa Santa Maria where I will

be living is currently undergoing

renovations and so I will not be able to

receive mail at that address reliably until

October 2018. But then afterwards of

course I would love to hear from you

and I want to stay in touch with you all

as best as I can, certainly through union

of prayer.

Archdiocese of Santa Fe Annual Catholic Appeal His Mercy Endures Forever... Our Parish has to give $37,000 to support the work of the whole archdiocese.

So far $27,397 has been pledged and $20,932 paid. Thank you to those who have given!!!

But this means our current short-fall is approximately $9,603 which will come out of our Parish savings if people don’t contribute.

Also, of over 1,200 families in our Parish, so far only 100(!) families have participated or even pledged anything. Please help and please do not excuse yourself. Give $1 if that’s all you can.

Baptism Class

The next baptism class in English will be held on Tuesday, June 19th at 6PM. Remember, this class must be attended by both parents and Godparents.

Men’s Church League Softball Season!

It’s that time again for church league softball. If you

are interested in playing for the men’s church softball

team, please call the church office during office hours

and sign up. If you have previously signed up, please

do so again due to our computer crashing. The earlier

we can get a team together, the earlier we can start

practice and prepare for the year!

The food pantry operates every Saturday of the

month. Anyone interested in volunteering, please

come at 8:30AM!

We are also very much in need of volunteers every

Friday morning to help prepare for the food pantry on

Saturday.

We are in need of volunteers drivers for food box

deliveries!!!

This is a truly beautiful ministry; an essential part of living

the Gospel and really helping many in need here in our

community. The Food Pantry helps literally hundreds of

families in this area. If you are interested, please call

The Food Pantry is currently in need of the following items:

Kids toothbrushes, cereal, peanut butter, jelly, and kids drinks.

Come and be a part of this incredible ministry and service to

the poor that your very own parish operates.

Aquí en esta parroquia tenemos una comunidad hispana muy grande. Tenemos

Misa en español todos los sábados a las 6PM y también tenemos Misa a las

5:30PM todos los jueves y clases de catecismo después. Ofrecemos estas clases y

platicas en español. Celebramos todos los sacramentos (bautismos, primeras

comuniones, matrimonios, todo) y también bendiciones como quinceañeras en es-

pañol. ¡Hazte parte de nuestra comunidad hispana muy vivaz!

Estamos muy contentos de celebrar los bautismos aquí en español. Para bautizar aquí

tienes que 1) obtener y llenar los papeles, notando que la forma para los padrinos debe

ser firmada por su propio párroco. 2) asistir a la clase de bautismo que tenemos aquí en

español, el próximo será el 2 de junio a las 1PM en la escuela. La clase es obligatoria

para los padres del niño(a) y para los padrinos también. 3) Llamar a la oficina, 575-763

-6947, para hacer una cita con el Padre Simón o el Diacono Juan. En la cita vamos a

trabajar con usted para fijar la fecha del bautizo; las fechas son flexibles. Haremos todo

lo posible para programar el bautizo cuando mejor funcione para usted y su familia.
