Jonathon Simmons and D.J. Augustin each scored 16 points for the Magic. Josh Richardson led the Heat with 20 points. The Magic connected on 13-of-30 from three-point range and held Miami to just 43 percent shooting from the floor, including 3-of-23 from beyond the three-point arc. Orlando took a 107-93 lead after Augustin drained a three-pointer with 8:17 left in the game. The Heat would not quit, going on a 16-2 run and tied the game at 109 after a layup by Richardson with 2:53 remaining. Orlando would regain the lead for good after a thunderous dunk by Simmons with 1:31 left. Miami had one final chance to tie or win the game, but Bismack Biyombo blocked Tyler Johnson’s layup attempt with 2.9 seconds remaining, then deflected the ensuing inbounds pass to help seal the victory for the Magic. However, it would not be enough, as Dwyane Wade sealed the win with a putback layup with 17.8 seconds left…Jan. 18 @ Cleveland – Cavaliers 104, Magic 103: Isaiah Thomas scored 21 points, including the game-winning free throws with 11.2 seconds left, as Cleveland edged Orlando, 104-103, at Quicken Loans Arena. LeBron James added 16 points. Elfrid Payton led six Magic players in double figures with 19 points and eight assists, while Aaron Gordon and Evan Fournier each added 17 points. Cleveland led at halftime, 67-47, and by as many as 23 points. The Magic stormed back during the third quarter, outscoring the Cavaliers, 33-17. With 31.5 seconds left, Shelvin Mack hit a short jumper to give Orlando a 103-102 edge. After Thomas converted two free throws with 11.2 seconds remaining, the Magic had one final chance.
