The tip of the selector switch points towards the selected setting.

Then allow the selector switch to engage.

The firing setting is selected.

Set nailing depth

Type 3X-CNW50, 4X-CNZ45 and 5F-CNW65

On the 3X-CNW50, 4X-CNZ45 and 5F-CNW65 tackers you can set the nailing depth of the coilnail by adjusting the adjusting wheel and by changing the working pressure of the compressor.

The following symbol can be found on the housing of the tacker:

The symbol indicates in which direction you have to turn the adjusting wheel to reduce or increase the nailing depth.

To adjust the nailing depth, turn the adjusting wheel (1) in the desired direction.

27

Adjusting Type 7F-CNW90

The nailing depth of Type 7F-CNW90 is determined by the position of the lower safety bracket. The higher you fit the lower safety bracket, the greater the nailing depth.

To adjust the nailing depth, loosen socket-head screw (1).

Move the lower safety bracket (2) vertically along the safety bracket (3) into the desired position.

 Tighten the socket-head screw firmly.

1 32

Adjusting the nailing depth via the working pressure

The nailing depth of the coilnailer into the material can be set by adjusting the working pressure. With higher working pressure, the nails are driven in deeper, with lower working pressure less deeply.

Set the working pressure such that the desired nailing depth is just obtained. This offers the following advantages:

 You save energy (compressed air),

You reduce the noise level, and

You reduce the wear on the tacker.

To adjust the working pressure, proceed as follows:

Hold the tacker so that the tool nose is facing downwards.

Set the pressure at the pressure valve of the compressor.

Observe the pressure gauge of the compressor.

Page 28: Original operating instructions for Pneumatic Coilnailers€¦ · 6 Magazine 7 Tool nose with trigger lock 8 Pro tective cover 9 Magazine lock 10 Adjusting wheel for adjusting the

Using the tacker

28

Checking nailing depth

Press the tool nose against a wooden test block with the same characteristics as the material to be nailed.

Check the setting with a single firing against the test material.

Repeat these steps until the desired nailing depth is obtained.

Driving in nails

WARNING Risk of injury due to electric shock.

Ensure that no electric cables can be hit before firing the coilnails.

WARNING During operation, injuries to the eyes or other injuries are possible caused by flying splinters.

Wear protective goggles and appropriate protective clothing during work.

Observe the prevailing accident prevention regulations.

WARNING Damage to your hearing is possible due to the loud working noise.

 Wear suitable ear protectors.

Observe the prevailing noise protection regulations.

Select the lowest possible working pressure.

WARNING Risk of injury from slipping nails, nails driven in too deeply or from tacker recoil.

Use the tacker only on wooden materials.

Ensure that the nailing depth is not larger than the thickness of the wood.

Press the tacker firmly against the wood when firing.

Page 29: Original operating instructions for Pneumatic Coilnailers€¦ · 6 Magazine 7 Tool nose with trigger lock 8 Pro tective cover 9 Magazine lock 10 Adjusting wheel for adjusting the

Using the tacker

29

A severe recoil occurs if nails are driven into excessively hard workpieces or into other nails. This can cause the tacker to slip off the workpiece.

The nailing depth of the nails depends on the hardness and thickness of the wood and on the set working pressure.

Ensure that no other persons are standing behind the wooden block.

Then check the function of the tacker at low working pressure by firing once.

Adjust the working pressure according to the hardness of the wood used.

The correct working pressure has been set when the desired nailing depth of the nails is obtained with the lowest possible pressure.

Fire tacker once

To fire the tacker once, proceed as follows:

Set the selector switch to "T" (single firing) (see page 25).

Position the tool nose of the tacker against the wood and press the tacker firmly against the wood.

 Press the trigger lever.

A nail is driven into the wood.

 Release the trigger lever.

Lift the tacker off the wood.

To drive in further nails, repeat these steps.

Fire tacker repeatedly

The tacker must not be used with the setting "repeat firing" in the following cases:

For applications requiring movements with the tacker over scaffolds, stairs, ladders or ladder-like constructions,

For closing boxes or crates, and

For the attachment of transport locks.

For these applications, set the selector switch to "T" (single firing).

Page 30: Original operating instructions for Pneumatic Coilnailers€¦ · 6 Magazine 7 Tool nose with trigger lock 8 Pro tective cover 9 Magazine lock 10 Adjusting wheel for adjusting the

Using the tacker

30

To fire the tacker repeatedly, proceed as follows:

Check the setting by firing once.

Lift the tacker off the wood.

Adjust the desired nailing depth (see page 26), if necessary.

Set the selector switch to "TTT" (repeat firing) (see page 25).

 Press the trigger lever.

WARNING Risk of injury from recoil and unintentional firing.

Press the tacker firmly against the wood.

Position the tool nose of the tacker against the wood and press the tacker briefly against the wood.

The nail is driven in.

To drive in further nails, hold the trigger lever depressed.

Move the tacker to the next desired nailing position.

Press the tacker against the wood.

The next nail is driven in.

This process can be repeated as long as the trigger is held depressed and there are nails in the magazine.
