Kindergarten eligibility
◦ Students who will be five years old by Sept. 1 may enroll in kindergarten
◦ All schools offer full-day kindergarten◦ Students are initially assigned to schools based on their
home address.◦ School assignment look-up (verify assignment with
Students Services)
PEEP/PreK eligibility
◦ Students who will be four years old by Dec. 1 may enroll in the KPS Pre-Kindergarten Early Education Program (PEEP)
◦ Full-day, morning or afternoon classes offered in many elementary schools across the district

El Sol Daily Schedule*• Start Time: 8:44am - Parents can drop students off after 8:30am
• Tardy Bell: 8:50am - Instruction begins
• Specials classes start by 9:05 am and run all day
• Lunch hours are 50 minutes and run from 11:00am - 1:45pm
• Pullout/Push in by specialists occurs throughout the day (ESL, Special Education, Speech, Reading Interventions, and Tutoring)
• School Day Ends: 3:50 pm (Parent pickup starts at 3:45)
• Various after school programs (Book club, CIS aftershool program, Coro de Niños, Girls on the Run, etc.)

TransportationElementary students (K-5) are eligible for transportation if they reside more than one mile from the school, and they are attending their designated boundary school or a magnet school.

The Kalamazoo Promise provides 100% benefit for students who maintain continuous residency and enrollment at KPS from K-12.
The Promise covers tuition and mandatory fees at Michigan post-secondary institutions.
Documents needed to be brought to the school to finalize enrollment:❖ Your child’s birth certificate❖ Immunization record❖ Proof of hearing and vision screen (if available)❖ Two proofs of address (examples: utility bill, lease agreement,
mortgage)❖ For PEEP registration, proof of yearly family income needed
