Climate Commitment signed by President Merten in 2007; commits Mason to create a plan for climate neutrality

• Climate Action Planning team created and will produce a Climate Action Plan (CAP) by September 2009

• Climate champions mailing list created to share climate-related news and campus events with community

• Cheer for Climate Action: partnership with Athletics department to raise climate awareness at sports events

• As mentioned in academics, there is a lot of research and coursework available in climate at Mason – encourage students to get involved in making us neutral!

•Recycling is an effective way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions!!

•GMU has a very comprehensive program that uses BLUE BINS to collect most recycling

The EAG (Environmental Awareness Group) organizes painting of recycling bins in order to:•beautify old bins, •make recycling bins more visible, •and allow for student group representation.

Recycle Your Leftovers Fool!

•Composting recycles food scraps by collecting them and letting them naturally decompose to make soil.

•At GMU we compost most food waste•The Southside Dining Facility collects ALL food waste for composting at an off-site facility.

•Green bins near Southside are designated for food waste that is not eaten within the facility.
