Organizational Science
Organizational Science is an interdisciplinary field of inquiry focusing on employee and organizational health, well-being, and effectiveness.
Spans four disciplines (Communication Studies, I/O Psychology, Management, Sociology)
Organizational Science is both a science and a practice. Enhanced understanding leads to applications and interventions that benefit the individual, work groups, the organization, the customer, the community, and the larger society in which the organization operates.
Established in 2005 as the 15th doctoral program
OS is the most competitive graduate program at UNC Charlotte.
Our mission is to become national leaders in organizational science scholarship, to achieve excellence in organizational science doctoral education, and, through both, ultimately advance employee and organizational health, well-being, and effectiveness

The Organizational Science Summer Institute (OSSI) is an inclusion-based initiative seeking to diversify the field of organizational science through relationships and professional development of advanced undergraduates aspiring for a doctoral degree in organizational science or a related field of study.
OSSI specifically targets historically underrepresented undergraduate students to participate in a research-driven institute for a week during the summer.
OSSI Goals: To give advanced undergraduates the
opportunity to learn more about graduate studies and research in organizational science
To provide the opportunity for students to identify their focal interests through direct experience and exposure to the many areas of research in organizational sciences
To foster undergraduate interest and ability in research, scholarship, application and graduate study
To demonstrate to participants that a career in organizational science offers an exciting challenge, that such careers offer many personal and intellectual rewards, and that they are fully capable of such careers.
To expose students to a supportive graduate climate that values multiple diverse perspectives (e.g. disciplinary, demographic, methodology, and intellectual).
To provide skills necessary to navigate the graduate admissions process.
