EVERYBODY KNOWS (SPAIN/IRAN, 2018) From Asghar Farhadi, director of About Elly, A Separation and The Salesman. A married woman returns to her home-town for a family wedding. Also attend-ing is a local man with whom she shares a secret history. Soon, a disappearance throws the event into chaos. Farhadi still depicts relationships with the tension of a thriller, now adding the intensity of Spain’s Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem.
“immensely watchable …thematically complex tale, which plays out like a deceptively conventional Agatha Christie-style whodunit.” — The Washington Post
March 20 at 7 p.m. I LOST MY BODY (FRANCE, 2019) Academy Award Nominee for Best Animated Feature
A pizza delivery guy arrives forty minutes late, but nevertheless has a promising chat over the intercom with the woman who ordered it. A severed hand escapes from a laboratory and makes its way across Paris in search of its owner. I Lost My Body combines a character- based story with a unique adventure tale.
“one of the most original and creative animated features I’ve ever seen.” — Variety
April 20 at 7 p.m.
ELENA (RUSSIA, 2012) Elena lives in Moscow, but she occupies two different, equally painful worlds. She’s the second wife of a wealthy man, but they don’t sleep in the same bed. She regularly takes the train to her extended family, but they pressure her with their money problems. When the man has a heart attack, an estranged daughter enters the picture and the issue of inheritance complicates matters further.
“sharp, surprising turns … catapult the film in an unexpected direction. It’s an austere Russian drama with shades of Hitchcock.” — The AV Club

Hailed as one of the funniest plays in the English language, this brilliant comedy of manners follows the antics of two bachelors, Jack and Algernon, as they pursue true love and the perfect cucumber sandwich. Both men take the alias of “Ernest” in order to capture the hearts of Gwendolyn and Cecily, but quickly discover that maintaining double identities is more challenging than they expected. When it all starts to unravel, comic mayhem ensues.
