Legal duties to provide support for care leavers under the age of 25 who wish to go into higher education, including specific entitlements to vacation accommodation and a £2,000 Higher Education Bursary

From higher education institutions Under new student finance arrangements there is a clear

expectation that HEIs will provide additional support for vulnerable groups to access higher education.

What can you do? Inform – help young people understand what

is available from colleges, local authority and higher education institutions.

Question – it is a complicated area, but there are lots of people to ask for help.

Aspire – it is vital that our expectations match the potential of the young people we work for.
