Where We Come From? Our HistoryIn 2011, Asavela Peko emerged among thescholars who realized out of desperation a needto establish an organisation that would hold afirm representation of their integral needs, mobilise opportunities for them and drive changein a broader perspective for them supported bythe concerned people (parents, youth andcommunity workers).

He then sold the power within the vision carriedby the perspective in which he viewed LEMOSAto be as an alternative, and fortunately enoughthe organisation was embraced and uphold

underthe circumstances with great inspiration.

On its inception it had then to be operated in acontext that would completely take cognisance indwelling more in mediating and thrive toinfluence for the politeness in a high school levelin particularly Masibambisane High School,

whereby everything that led to the organisationestablishment and its launch took place.

Asavela with his colleagues had never gotten anytraining neither course before related to anyDuties as well as tasks that they had to deliverbased on in serving the members andbeneficiaries.

As unregistered as we were, we firmly knew andunderstood the vision on a same level. From theinformal learning and limited information wedecided that we would keep the organisationevolving and strengthen our strides in ensuringthat we are creating an impact. We centred ourvision in the heart of the basic education, andunclear but knowing well that we had to channelthe youth and community transformationthrough the education as our platform.

How We See Our Youth“Every living person has some gifts or capacityof value to others. A strong community is aplace that recognizes these…” (McKnight andKretzmann, 1993)

We regard our youth accordingly to theutterances of McKnight and Kretzmann in amanner that they are assets not liabilities. Toan extent that the power in their potential andstrength reflect how great of architects andpioneers of change they amount to within our their communities.

We believe that our youth are leaders in theirown full right that are leading by an exampleand we reject to associate them withutterances that mislead them such as, “youthare the future leaders”.

We prefer doing everything with them alwayshence we say: DO IT FOR THEM, WITH THEM!

“As long as we live the future is bright wile the road is truly tortuous!” Our Slogan

Our VisionTo be a vehicle of change in the life-time we subscribe to;

through the academic and socio-economic excellence.

Our Mission StatementBe a platform of change which influence for the academic

and socio-economic excellence; with independence by equipping the youth with the skills that will enable them to be responsible citizens and effective leaders.

BUSISIWE MNENGI

LEMOSA has helped so many learners in termsof career guide. Being a member has given mecourage that I can do more to make changes inour community. South African Educationdoesn't push the kids to strive for more but letthe learners to accept average, so for methere's a lot that needs to be changed.

Like Township Schools instead of complainingabout the resources we don't have how aboutwe use the ones we have so that we can benoticed and show that poverty doesn't defineour future.

Having organization like Lemosathat fights for better education gives me hopefor the less fortunate to receive the best

education possible.” (Comment by: BusisiweMnengi, Cape Peninsula University ofTechnology – Student)
