The reasons behind...

“Every person, community, and society in the world is already, or will soon be, affected by the crisis, through climate change, economic breakdown, ecosystem collapse, population pressure, food and water shortages, resource depletion, nuclear and other threats.

If we continue on our present unsustainable path, by mid-century the Earth could become largely uninhabitable for human and countless other forms of life.

But if we collaborate and act with vision, foresight and commitment we can lay the foundations of a global community that is both peaceful and sustainable.”

Dr. Ervin Laszlo, Worldshift 2012

...the challenges ahead...

“Our existing educational programs and institutions are preparing their graduates for jobs in institutions destined to fail or to be replaced.

Not only must future graduates be prepared to serve institutions, for which we now have few models, that support ecological balance, shared prosperity, and living democracy, they must be prepared to create such institutions.

It isn´t just about young people. The entire society must be retooled and reskilled – immediately.”

David Korten, board chair of YES! Magazine

Education for Sustainable Development Conference in Stockholm, January 2010 4

...and us right in the middle!

We are Joanna and Franck, a German/Polish-French couple in their thirties, living in Brussels.

Being concerned about the impact of mainstream urban lifestyle has on our health and our

environment, we started to search for alternatives. To our surprise, we came across many projects

for sustainable, social and healthy lifestyles sprouting here and there, but that were hardly known by

our friends and family. Just to name a few: Permaculture, transition towns, eco villages*…

Visiting our first organic farm in Belgium, we were captivated by the generosity, calm and energy of

the people living there. So we decided to share our passion for sustainable lifestyles with others,

setting up an association, Organicvision.

From August 2010 on we will embark on a journey around the world visiting 30 selected projects of

sustainable lifestyle in order to gain more expert knowledge on the ground and to understand the

skills and organization behind the process of change.

Later on we plan to set up a network of activists and become trainers to empower people and

institutions to change existing unsustainable styles of production and consumption.

Our personal testimony...Looking at the animals and their life it seems that they are there to enjoy what nature offers.

But we do not only enjoy. We abuse, we go to the limits of what nature offers. Why? Is it all our

limbic brain saying: Now it is there, better take it, before it is gone tomorrow?

We do not have a natural enemy. So we create one: Our own greed. The only taming force is nature

itself, reacting with storms, floods.

Why do people do not change when facing all the horrible scenarios of climate change.

Personally, every time when we think or discuss this problem it seems so complex that our minds

crash down like a computer infected by a virus.

We seem to be trapped in a system, no longer apt to work in an alternative manner.

We look back in history and wonder how people transported heavy stones. Without cars, without

oil…today it seems our brains can no longer imagine these transport methods.

It seems that there is no alternative to this consumerism, go to work eat-sleep world.

We have forgotten how we can live in harmony with nature.

...and why we created Organicvision!

We were particularly struck by the film “The Age of Stupid”. It shows a guy in New Orleans wholost everything he possessed, but retired early from his oil platform job and rediscovers nature. Why are there so few examples of people living a really different life?

With this quest on our mind, we have set up Organicvision: An association that aims to presentamazing people who live differently. We believe that the stories of great people who have achieved great projects should be shared to encourage others to do the same. Examples that encourage to learn about how you can take a path that will make you use the force of nature that is in you and around you....
