ORGANIC IDEOLOGY The organic ideology means the idea

of a more natural artist. Rather than providing writers and

stylists, the record company help the artist build their own image with their music and gain success due to this.

Organic artists are seen to be less enhanced in their image and in the music in comparison to synthetic acts.

Examples of organic artists are Eminem, Ed Sheeran and Queen.

The audiences tend to be more sophisticated, and of a mixed gender.

SYNTHETIC IDEOLOGY The synthetic approach refers to a

combined effort to artists and material as executives attempt to construct successful artists.

The image of the artists is usually determined by the record label to what they think will attract the biggest audience.

They have a shorter time span to show they can be successful.

Examples of synthetic artists are One Direction, Justin Bieber and Rihanna.

The audience tends to be of a single gender (girls like Justin Bieber) and less sophisticated.

There is a common trend in female synthetic artists. As they mature, they tend to a adapt a more ‘raunchy’ image to try and attract a larger male audience. Acts such as Miley Cyrus and Rihanna have done this.
