Greta is expecting- estimated due date is June 19.

Expected to be out of office from delivery date to August 1.

Coming back part time from August- December

Email will be sent as time draws closer with directions for requests, etc. Mostly, everything will fall on Roxann.

PGS UpdatesTreatment Specialist Position Update:

Drafting Policy Option Package to the legislature for authority to hire Position –Program Analyst to provide technical assistance and program and policy development.

Position that we had authority for (Compliance Specialist) was transferred to License and Regulation Unit due to classification and main function.

Position is budgeted for in current budget and future budgets, so this providers us leverage in moving forward through the OHA process to reach the legislature. No funding requested- always looks good.

Will keep you posted. Legislative session begin January 1, 2017.

PGS UpdatesPartner Meeting Update:

Lottery is developing web-based Retailer Trainings as part of their Responsible Gaming Program. The web-based project will roll out in phases. Phase one is retailers with VLT’s.

Roxann provided PGS Prevention Overview to Partners Meeting – well received!

Partners group working on compiling data points to explore effective strategies for ensuring PG information is available.

State PG Prevention UpdatesConducted 3 site visits so far – great opportunity to

showcase your Prevention Program.PGS will be creating a PG Prevention Advisory

Committee. More information will be available soon.Danette Killinger and Monica YellowOwl did a great

presentation showcasing their prevention work at the Focus On The Future Conference.

PGS is exploring creating a positive community norms campaign for PG Prevention. Oregon Lottery is very interested in partnering in this endeavor.

Outreach Project DiscussionWe are proposing the following:Please provide feedback to Roxann regarding this proposal no later than May 25th on the following: Competitive projects aimed at increasing awareness of problem gambling in the adult population, and the availability of treatment for the problem gambler and their loved ones.Project proposals would be due July 29, 2016.Application can be up to $20,000.Funding announcements would be made by September 1, 2016.Funds could be rolled over to next biennium if your organization would allow.

PGS Prevention Provider Discussion-Updates from the fieldBenton: Problem Gambling Awareness Month Activities included use of media and outreach in rural areas. Good participation in art contest over previous year.Linn County: Created posters for local artwork winners and are now displayed in the schools. Danette is seeking ideas for planning activities and outreach to the Older Adult population. Susan from Marion County discussed integrating PG messaging into Grandparents 360 prevention messaging. Kim from Clackamas shared that her supervisor had presented on a project they are working on at the Focus on the Future Conference. Roxann will explore getting the presentation materials so they can be available to providers. Roxann will add “Working with Older Adult Population” to the prevention agenda for the fall meeting. NARA: Darlene shared she had dropped off brochures with Loaves and Fishes and that one of their activities is a trip to the casino. Pow Wow season has begun and she is busy sharing information at the Pow Wow’s. Additionally providing presentations to their inpatient residential program. Union: Treatment provider recently has moved in-house and this has aided in the collaboration between treatment and prevention.

PGS Prevention Provider Discussion-Updates from the fieldBaker: Participated in Lane County’s statewide video contest and one of their entries took second place in the contest!Jefferson: New provider learning about PG Prevention. Participated in artwork contest and had a good response rate from the middle schools.Clackamas: Held an open house during PG Awareness month and provided education materials and 3 individuals in recovery shared their story. Additionally provides PG education presentations in DUII groups and has a table display with PG materials. Multnomah: Collaborating with sub-contractor to update PG Prevention plan for next year.Marion: Gambling free graduation night projects: twelve projects applied, and 10 projects approved. Projected to serve 1,000 youth in Marion County.Crook: Crook County’s funding has shifted to Public Health for prevention and is in the process of developing their system.
