4. Thus all my gladsome way along,
I sing aloud Thy praises That all may hear the grateful song
My voice unwearied raises. Be joyful in the Lord, my heart,
Both soul and body take your part: To God all praise and glory!
*Call To Confession
*Prayer of Confession
Eternal God, your face is hidden from us by our sins and
we lose your mercy in the blindness of our hearts. Cleanse us from all our offenses. Deliver us from proud thoughts and vain
desires. With lowliness and meekness may we draw near to you,
confessing our faults, confiding in your grace, and finding in you our refuge and strength; through Jesus Christ your Son.
*Silent Prayer of Confession
*Assurance of Pardon
Leader: Friends, believe the good news.
All: In Jesus Christ we are forgiven.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give
us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver
us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

*Hymn #483 Sing Praise to God, Who Reigns Above
1. Sing praise to God, who reigns above,
The God of all creation, The God of power, the God of love,
The God of our salvation;
With healing balm my soul is filled, And every faithless murmur stilled:
To God all praise and glory!
2. What God's almighty power hath made, God's gracious mercy keepeth;
By morning glow or evening shade God's watchful eye ne'er sleepeth;
Within the kingdom of God's might,
Lo! all is just and all is right: To God all praise and glory!
3. The Lord is never far away,
But through all grief distressing, An ever present help and stay,
Our peace, and joy, and blessing; As with a mother's tender hand,
God gently leads the chosen band:
To God all praise and glory!

To the choirmaster: according to Lilies. Of David.
1 Save me, O God! For the waters have come up to my neck. 2 I
sink in deep mire, where there is no foothold; I have come into deep waters, and the flood sweeps over me. 3 I am weary with my
crying out; my throat is parched. My eyes grow dim with waiting for my God.
4 More in number than the hairs of my head are those who hate
me without cause; mighty are those who would destroy me, those
who attack me with lies. What I did not steal must I now restore? 5 O God, you know my folly; the wrongs I have done are
not hidden from you.
6 Let not those who hope in you be put to shame through me, O Lord GOD of hosts; let not those who seek you be brought to
dishonor through me, O God of Israel. 7 For it is for your sake that I have borne reproach, that dishonor has covered my face. 8 I have
become a stranger to my brothers, an alien to my mother's sons. 9 For zeal for your house has consumed me, and the reproaches of those who reproach you have fallen on me. 10 When I wept and
humbled my soul with fasting, it became my reproach. 11 When I made sackcloth my clothing, I became a byword to them. 12 I am
the talk of those who sit in the gate, and the drunkards make songs about me.
19 You know my reproach, and my shame and my dishonor;
my foes are all known to you. 20 Reproaches have broken my heart,
so that I am in despair. I looked for pity, but there was none, and for comforters, but I found none. 21 They gave me poison for food,
and for my thirst they gave me sour wine to drink.
34 Let heaven and earth praise him, the seas and everything that moves in them. 35 For God will save Zion and build up the cities of
Judah, and people shall dwell there and possess it; 36 the offspring
of his servants shall inherit it, and those who love his name shall dwell in it.
The Word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God.

*Hymn #288 I Sing the Mighty Power of God
1. I sing the mighty power of God That made the mountains rise; That spread the flowing seas abroad
And built the lofty skies. I sing the wisdom that ordained The sun to rule the day;
The moon shines full at God's command, And all the stars obey.
2. I sing the goodness of the Lord That filled the earth with food; God formed the creatures with a word
And then pronounced them good. Lord, how Thy wonders are displayed, Where'er I turn my eyes;
If I survey the ground I tread, Or gaze upon the skies!
3. There's not a plant or flower below But makes Thy glories known;
And clouds arise, and tempests blow, By order from Thy throne; While all that borrows life from Thee
Is ever in Thy care, And everywhere that we can be, Thou, God, art present there.
*Charge and Benediction
*Closing Response You are Mine
I will come to you in the silence. I will lift you from all your fear.
You will hear My voice, I claim you as My choice. Be still, and know I am near.
Do not be afraid, I am with you. I have called you each by name.
Come and follow Me, I will bring you home. I love you and you are mine.

*Hymn #310 Jesus, the Very Thought of Thee
1. Jesus, the very thought of Thee With sweetness fills my breast;
But sweeter far Thy face to see, And in Thy presence rest.
2. Nor voice can sing, nor heart can frame,
Nor can the mind recall
A sweeter sound than Thy blest name, O Savior of us all.
3. O hope of every contrite heart,
O joy of all the meek, To those who fall, how kind Thou art!
How good to those who seek!
5. Jesus, our only joy be Thou,
As Thou our prize will be; Jesus, be Thou our glory now,
And through eternity.
Scripture Reading John 19:28-30
28 After this, Jesus, knowing that all was now finished, said (to fulfill
the Scripture), “I thirst.”
29 A jar full of sour wine stood there, so they put a sponge full of the sour wine on a hyssop branch and held it to his mouth.
30 When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, “It is finished,”
and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

Famous Last Words: I Thirst
“After this, Jesus, knowing that all was now finished, said (to fulfill the Scripture), ‘I thirst.’” (John 19:28)
*Affirmation of Faith (11:00 a.m. only)
When the fullness of time came, God sent his Son, his eternal Wisdom, the substance of his own glory, into this world, who
took the nature of humanity from the substance of a woman, a virgin and that by means of the Holy Spirit. And so was born
the “just seed of David,” the “Angel of the great counsel of God,” the very Messiah promised, whom we confess and
acknowledge to be Emmanuel, very God and very man, two perfect natures united and joined in one person.
