Transcript of Order of Quetzalcoatl Voice Of The Coate 2006 Spring
Dear Artisans.
Thank you for electing me as your new Chief
Supreme Tlaloc for 2005 - 2006. The Supreme
Officers including myself are going to do our very
best in making the Q the best organization in North
America. Here we are in the New Year of 2006.
The first quarter of our term was a busy one in
getting all of our new programs in place. Let me
explain some of them to you. We have put together
a good vehicle in order that more information is
available for all of the Teocallis, Associations and
most importantly, our members. The Web Page.
Our Supreme Camaxtli, Loran Goff, has worked
endless hours to give you all the information
concerning the Order of Quetzalcoatl. If you have
not seen the web page yet, please take a few
minutes and look it up at www.supremeq.com We
thank Loran for all of his hard work and the many
hours of input for providing all of this tremendous
information to us.
By Laws
If any of the Teocallis or Associations have any
by-law changes, they must be approved by the
Supreme. Please forward all of your by -law changes
to our Supreme By-laws committee who will approve
them. They will then be signed when and if approved
or return them back to you for any changes they see
fit.

Coate
Editor’s NoteThis is to let all Artisans in the realm know that
there was no collusion on any ones part to hide
anything from the membership. The reason you
thought you had been cut off from the Supreme
is all my fault and mine alone. I have been
remiss in not getting the Voice to the printer.
Procrastination is a terrible thing. I promise to
do better in the future. Ole! Fred
Supreme Full Board Mid -Year MeetingThe Supreme board meeting took place on
Saturday March 18th, at 8:30 am at the SEQA in
Birmingham, AL. This was a good fun-filled
weekend for all. Jack Lucke worked very hard to
put this all together for all Artisans.
To date I have really been enjoying the
travelling to Teocallis and Associations as well as
installing the new officers for 2006.
All of us at Supreme wish to thank each and every
one of you for the parade of checks at the Feast of
Fire in Albuquerque, NM for a grand total of about
$35,000.00.
Parade of checks listing can be found on
another page. If you would like the Chief Supreme
Tlaloc to visit your Teocalli or Association, please
drop me a note and I will do my very best to be
there.
Last of all; don’t forget to mark your calendar
for the Feast of the Fire that will take place on
October 11th, -15th, in Valley Forge, PA. This is
going to be a very special Feast, as we will be
celebrating our 26th Anniversary of the Feast of Fire.
Artisans, let me assure you, that all of your
Supreme Officers & Past Chief Supreme Tlalocs
are working very hard for the Order of
Quetzalcoatl. Our desire is to make the Order
better every day with timely communications, our
travels and via emails.
Until the next Voice of the Coate, keep up the good
work. Remember, the name of the game is “fun”.

See of North America
2005/2006
I want to thank all the Artisans who attended the
Feast of the Fire in Albuquerque, NM and those who
elected me to the Supreme Office of Camaxtli for your
continued support. Congratulations and welcome to
Otto Ludewig (T-93 Omaha) as our new Supreme
Titlauacan.
It was with a great deal of pleasure that I was able
attend the recent Ceremonial and Dedication of the
new Shiners’ Hospital in Mexico City, Mexico,
October 1-2, 2005 along with Supreme Officers CST
David S. Sweeney, Titlauacan Louis A. Metz III, PSCT
Horace Russell and SEQA Past Chief Camaxtli Lew
Childs .
The population of Mexico City is a guess at best,
with over 25 million people. There are 4 million
automobiles and over 100,000 taxis and it seems that
all the people, autos and taxis want to share the same
street at the same time. Traffic is slow with
amazingly very little driver rage. The elevation of the
city is 7200 feet above sea level, so it was moderately
warm during the day, but cool in the evenings.
A large contingency of Shriners from Canada,
Mexico, United States and Panama stayed at the Royal
Federal Hotel, which was located about 18 miles from
the Mexico City Airport ( 1 ½ hour trip), but
conveniently a short taxi ride to the new Hospital (120
pesos or $12.00).
Starting at 10am on Saturday, October 1st, located
in the center court yard of the New Hospital, an
International Ceremonial was preformed to kickoff the
Imperial Potentates year for International
Membership. Seventeen new Nobles were inducted
as Shriners by the combined Degree Teams of Al Bahr
Temple, San Diego and Anezeh Temple, Mexico City.
Performing the background Ceremonial music was
the Drum & Bugle Corps from Mocha Shrine Center,
London Ontario, Canada. This truly was an
International Ceremonial with Imperial Potentate
Gary W. Dunwoody congratulating and Fezing each
new Noble
After the Ceremonial the new Hospital was opened
for touring. It’s a beautiful 3 story building housing
80 beds and 4 operating rooms. It’s constructed with
a center court yard
containing many beautiful flowers and benches to sit
and enjoy the serenity. The hospital provides
orthopedic, plastic and spinal cord injury care for
children and replaces an older hospital built in 1961
which housed 60 beds. State of the art equipment
and facilities will greet the kids when they are moved
into the new hospital in the near future.
On Sunday, October 2nd, we returned to the
Hospital (120 peso taxi ride), for the presentation of
gifts and the dedication ceremony. CST David S.
Sweeney presented a check to Ill Sir Ralph Semb,
President of the Colorado Corporation for $5000.00
from our Supreme Transportation fund. I had the
pleasure to present a check for $2885.89 from
Kukulcan T-16A, Kansas City, MO for the Mexico
Hospital Transportation Fund.
The dedication ceremony was conducted by the
Imperial Potentate Gary W. Dunwoody, Ill Sir Ralph
Semb, President of the Colorado Corporation and
Noble John H. Epps, President of the Board of
Directors. Music for this event was again provided by
the Drum & Bugle Corps from Mocha Shrine Center,
London Ontario, Canada. The ceremonial key to the
Hospital was presented by the architect to Ill Sir Ralph
Semb who in turn presented it to John Epps and the
Board of Directors of the Mexico City Hospital. The
traditional sprinkling of corn, wine and oil on the
foundation was conducted by Imperial Potentate Gary
W. Dunwoody. The ribbon cutting ceremony was
performed by all the Imperial dignitaries with
refreshments following. containing many beautiful
flowers and benches to sit and enjoy the serenity.
The hospital provides orthopedic, plastic and spinal
cord injury care for children and replaces an older
hospital built in 1961 which housed 60 beds. State
of the art equipment and facilities will greet the kids
when they are moved into the new hospital in the
near future.
The Hospital’s Chief of Staff gave the following
report for September 2005.

MIDYEAR REPORT OF FRED G. LOCK
SUPREME CHIMALMA
Following the Feast of Fire in Albuquerque I
attended the annual NEQA meeting in Montreal, this
meeting was highly successful and well attended by
members of several Teocallis.
Next was the installation ceremonies of Teocalli
2069 in Montreal a group which I am a proud
member. Following the holiday season was the
installation of the officers of my Teocalli 383 in
Toronto. I am proud to report that this group of active
members are well on the way in planning their
SECOND ANNUAL FEAST OF THE TOWER which will
take place May 4th to 7th in Toronto. I have attended
their degree rehearsals and must commend them for
their dedication and enthusiasm.
March 2nd to 5th was spent in Nashville Tennessee
in preplanning meetings for the 2008 Feast of Fire,
visit was topped off by attending the Al Menah
Potentates Ball, Potentate Jim Cain being my FOF
Convention Chairman
The NEQA Feast of the East in Southbury CT took
place March 9th to 12th, I attended along with PCST
Horace Russell and Supreme Huemac Lou Metz, this
was a very successful weekend hosted by T269 and
T30.
I also attended several other functions including
the Mid Year Supreme Board Meeting March 17th it
was combined this year with the SEQA meeting in
Birmingham AL March 16th to 19th. Following that I
attended the Hot Time in the City in Philadelphia along
with several members of T383 hosted by T1776 March
24th to 26th. Followed by WSQA in Long Beach CA.
April 6th to 9th.
During the last two months I along with other
Supreme Officers have attended the NEQA, SAQA,
SEQA and WSQA and I am now anxiously awaiting
my Teocalli’s FIRST INAUGURAL FEAST OF THE
TOWER May 5th to 8th in Toronto. I must congratulate
the officers and members of the previously mentioned
associations for work well done and a fine showing of
hospitality by all, it was much appreciated.
I would be remiss if I did not mention the beautiful
background scenery painted by Warrior Artisan Don
Emig of T13 Oakland CA. which added soooo much to
the portrayal of the Artisan Degree at WSQA in Reno
Nevada. This masterpiece took Don over ONE YEAR
to produce and involved countless hours of dedicated
work and talent. Due to my lack of expertise with the
computer I am unable to send a picture along with
this article, however my son has assisted me in
sending all my photos of the mural to webmaster
Loran Goff and they will be available soon on the
Supreme website, supremeq.com.
Yours under the rainbow of Quetzalcoatl

As you may have noticed some of these articles
were meant for an earlier edition that did not
materialize do to previously mentioned faults of
the Editor.
So that the next issue gets out in a timely
manner, this is your call for articles, pictures and
notices you would like to share with all the
Artisans of the realm. This is for all Supreme
Officers, Chief Camaxtlis and members. I will do
my best to get them all in print. Some may have
to lay over to the next issue.

Give yourselves a big pat on the back and this gives us
something to shoot for in Valley Forge. Let’s get to work

about the Association meetings that have gone
on since the FOF in Albuquerque, NM.

800 NUMBER
“800” number for the Supreme office is 1-888-648-4912. This number is now accessible
throughout North America. That is, our Canadian
members may utilize it. The old “800” number
for Canada only, and the requirement to insert
an access code, is no longer valid. One number
fits all!
Editors note: Don’t give up hope, I will get
the pictures and articles in the next issue that
you have sent in. We want to try and get all the
coverage of the Teocallis activities that we can.
Communication is the lifeblood of any
organization. I should say I will try to get them
all in. We are thinking about expanding to 16
pages which would make a lot more room for all
those articles and pictures I am hoping to
continue receiving. Remember to send pictures
as an attachment. It makes it a lot easier to copy,
change and us. Maybe in the future I will figure
out how to extract an imbedded picture.
Be sure to keep checking the web page. It is
another great tool for communicating.

CHAPLAINS CORNERArtisans All;
We look forward to a new harmonious year for our
Order…
To accomplish this, we must, each and every
Artisan, each and every Teocalli, each and every
Association place aside personal interest or gain,
uniting in the spirit that we are an Order of Congenial
Nobles, whose uppermost concern is the healing of
infirmed or broken children…
When we keep the needs of our children first, we
will be on the road to harmony within the “Q”, “The
Order Who Cares”.
If we cannot get the children to our facilities, how
can they be healed?
Children first!! We shall follow proud Artisans All!!

The First thing I must do is to apologize for beingso late with this issue. As I said earlier Procrastination is a terrible thing. But as with any new projectthere are problems and set backs, a LOT of set backsincluding learning Adobe Photoshop CS and AdobePageMaker 7.0. This issue is again put together thehard way using Microsoft Publisher. I haven’t learnedall the bells and whistles of PageMaker. Once learnedthe Voice would be able to be put in PDF format. Thenext issue is already late being put together, so Iapologize again for that.
I told our Past Chief Supreme Tlaloc David Sweeney, when he asked if I would take over as Editor, that Iwould with certain conditions and understandings.
First: This is not my publication, it is yours.
Second: I would expect an article or two from ALLSupreme Officers, and from ALL Chief Camaxtli’s. Thiswill serve as notice to all Chief Camaxtli’s to send mean article hopefully for every issue letting themembership know what is going on in theirrespective Associations.
Third: That I would be able to Gently embarrassanyone not sending in an article for each issue. Thisapplies to all Supreme Officers and all ChiefCamaxtli’s.
This is not meant in any way to stop any memberfrom submitting articles to be considered forpublication. Pictures, we like pictures, but please sendthem as an attachment to your E-mail. I don’t knowat this time why some pictures that I get in the bodyof the E-mail I can extract and others I can’t get themto move.
So if you have anything you would like themembers to be aware of send it in, I can’t promise itwould appear in print, because that’s what editorsdo, Edit. There will be no name calling or otherwiseinflammatory articles. There is no place for that inthis “Best-of the-Best” organizations.
Thanks for the opportunity to do this for you and Iwill do the best that I can. As they used to say “ Keepthose cards and letter coming”.

Supreme Secretary’s Notes!
Many thanks to those Teocallis who have responded
in a timely manner in remitting their annual per capita
dues. The dues remain at $15 for every member on
your rolls as of December 31, 2005. We continue to
receive Form 10’s dated in January of 2006 dropping
members for non-payment of dues or for other
reasons. In accordance with the Supreme Bylaws, your
annual per capita are based upon the number of
members you have on your rolls as of December 31,
2005. You are again reminded that our per capita is
billed in arrears - that is - if a member was still on
your rolls on or before December 31, 2005 you are
subject for per capita dues. If you have any question
in this regard, you should contact the Supreme office
at 1-888-648-4912. Teocallis have until March 1st
before they are declared delinquent (“not in good
standing”).
There are still a few Teocallis who have not
submitted their Form 11, Report of 2006 Teocalli
officers. Each Camaxtli and Secretary should access
our Supreme web site and select his Teocalli to
ascertain if you are one of the delinquent Teocallis. If
the name of your current (2006) Camaxtli and/or
Secretary is not correct then please submit a Form
11 immediately so we can update this information.
The Form 11 may be submitted electronically via our
web site.
On a voluntary basis, we do request each Teocalli
to submit an annual report on your charitable
activities. This form is on our web site. This is the
only method we have of compiling historical
information on the philanthropic activities of our
Teocallis.
Lastly, the Form 15 (Annual Financial Report) is
required to be submitted no later than February 15th
followed by a photocopy of your “year end” bank
statement’s). The Internal Revenue Service (IRS)
requires this. Canadian Teocallis are exempt from this
requirement.
There are now 93 active Teocallis, 7 inactive
Canadians to Receive Voice of

The Supreme Executive Committee, during their
recent Tele-conference approved the mailing of the
Voice of the Coate to all our Canadian members via
first class mail. Bulk mail rates do not apply outside
the United States. Therefore, it is imperative that ad-
dresses be kept up to date.
A considerable number of Teocallis have not as yet
submitted their annual Charitable Report and we
know there has been substantial contributions, both
in time, money and man-hours) being made to our
Temple’s. This annual report may be submitted elec-
tronically via our web site. If you don’t report it, we
have no way on knowing of your good deeds.
Valley Forge chosen for FOF2006
The location for the 2006 Feast of Fire will
be the historic center of our nations fight for
independence Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. Of
all places associated with America’s War for
Independence, none conveys the suffering,
sacrifice and ultimate triumph of our nation
more than Valley Forge. No battles were fought
here; no bayonet charges or artillery
bombardments took place. Nonetheless, some
2000 soldiers died – more Americans than were
killed at the battles of Brandywine and
Germantown combined. Valley Forge is the
story of an army’s epic struggle to survive
against terrible odds, hunger, disease and the
unrelenting forces of nature. Rows of cannon
in Artillery Park; the soldier’s log huts; and the
earthen fortifications around the rim of the park
are silent reminders of the past.
Hosted jointly by Teocalli 63 of Reading, PA
and Teocalli 500 of Indianapolis, IN you are
invited to one of the most historic sites in our
nation. There will be side trips to Philadelphia,
a short half hour away to visit Freedom Hall
and other historic sites. The Radisson Valley
Forge Hotel, King of Prussia, PA
(www.radisson.com/kingofprussia) will be our
headquarters with 380 Luxury guest room and
180,000 sq feet of convention space.
Director General Don Laumeister of Teocalli 63
and his team are already making plans for fun
and fellowship in Valley Forge.

2005/2006
Since my last opportunity to update you on the
Huemac’s (Titlauacan) travels, my Lady Nancy and I
attended the Deep South Quetzalcoatl Association
Annual Meeting in Tampa, Florida, on June 10th
2005.I had the privilege of assisting PCST Connie
Jacobi in installing the DSQA Officers following the
Annual Meeting. To each new officer, my
congratulations and best wishes during the coming
year.
Ayudando Ninos Teocalli No. 183 invited the DSQA
to be a part of their weekend and the meetings of both
groups were well attended. On the morning of June
11th, I elevated Coate Joe Peel, Past Potentate of Egypt
Temple 1979, to the rank of Artisan in183 in his
hospital room.Artisan Joe, who was scheduled to be
withCoates on Saturday afternoon, had emergency
surgery on June 6th. So, as it was pointed out, if
Mohammad can’t go to the mountain, the mountain
went to Mohammad.if that’s a weight shot, Bob, I’ll
get even.
Ayudando NinosArtisan Degree on Saturday
afternoon, June 11th, and held their banquet that
evening. At that banquet two most unusual things
happened.First, Los Tampateca elevated PCST Connie
Jacobi to the Order of Knights, Eagles and Tigers,
OKET number 183-21. To the best of my knowledge,
that’s a first for any Artisan. And just before I spoke to
the Artisans and ladies present, a lawsuit was filed
on behalf of Monkey SpeakEvil by
ChimalmaShoemaker, attorney, from Teocalli No. 118,
Fort Myers Beach, Florida, against Monkey See No
Evil, of Teocalli No. 183, Tampa. Now that I’ve got your
attention, you will have to come to Albuquerque to
learn more about this serious legal matter which
consists of the Notice of Filing with the Supreme
Jurisprudence Committee, Motion for Hearing and
Trial, Petition to Certify Monkey, Petition for
Determination of Paternity, Primary Residency/
Custody and for Monkey Support all within the
jurisdiction of the See of North America.
The weekend of June 17th through 19th 2005
found me in Tunica, Mississippi, with the Artisans of
Ciudad Acantilada No. 96, Memphis, Tennessee. They
held their annual Summer Gala at Sam’s Town
Casino where they staged the Artisan Degree and held
a banquet on Saturday evening. While there was plenty
of opportunity to do so, I resisted the siren call of the
casinoat least broke even. Ciudad Acantilada
has a charter limit of 96 members and currently has
only one vacancy.
And closer to home, I have been working withShrine
Centers where more than 31 Nobles are eager to form
a new Teocalli in Michigan.I look forward to
administering the Coates Oath to them in late
summer and to participating with the degree team from
Cruzada Atajo Nacion No. 500, Indianapolis, in
staging the Artisan Degree for them in September.
What’s next?Baltimore for the Imperial Shrine
Session and Q Hospitality Rooms. Then the Feast of
the North in Bloomington, Minnesota, with the
Artisans of Cey-Note Teocalli No. 23 followed by SAQA,
PNQA, and MAQA.
I hope to see each of you in Baltimore and/or
Albuquerque or wherever our paths cross.

Supreme Huemac (previously Titlauacan)
Time keeps flying by and as I write this report I
realize that there are only three weeks until the 2005
Feast of Fire in Albuquerque.
I was honored to be the Supreme Officer
representative to three associations this year, the Deep
South, South Atlantic and Mid-Atlantic Quetzalcoatl
Associations and I am pleased to report that I visited
all three at least once and would have visited all three
at least twice if it were not for a bout of cellulites’.
Sorry MAQA; I owe you one.
Since my last report I have attended The Imperial
Shrine Session in Baltimore where I had the
opportunity to meet with the representatives from
Saladin Shrine Center in the Q Hospitality Room. That
meeting led to the formation of a new Teocalli in Grand
Rapids, Michigan, called Hueiatlalli, meaning Land of
the Great Waters, Teocalli No. 27. I went to Grand
Rapids on August 26th and administered the Coate
Oath to 33 new warriors and installed their charter
officers following a very nice banquet attended by the
warriors and their ladies. They have received their
Letter of Dispensation, are planning to have an
Artisan Degree in the spring and attend the 2006 Feast
of Fire to get the Master Artisan Degree. Welcome
Hueiatlalli No. 27!
August 7th was the Supreme Board teleconference
which lasted three hours but covered a wide range of
topics including a report by the Auditor which will be
presented in Albuquerque. August 19th - 21st was the
Fifth Annual Feast of the North in Bloomington,
Minnesota, hosted by Cey-Note’ Teocalli No. 23.
Several members of my home Teocalli, Los Camelleros
No. 50, attended along with our ladies and as we have
since the first Feast, had a great weekend seeing old
friends and the new costumes of the Cey-Note’
degree team.
September was really busy with the MAQA Annual
Meeting in Virginia Beach, Virginia, on the 7th, PNQA
Annual Meeting in Welches, Oregon, on
Time Line as of March 29,2006 in the matter of White, Wise, Sweeny & the Order
LawsuitOn Saturday Aug. 20, 2005 David Sweeny was served with a lawsuit brought by Donald White and
Jack Wise, case number G 2005-4391 in the Superior Court of Arizona. (the “lawsuit”)
The lawsuit alleges that Sweeny in his capacity as office-holder of the Order slandered Mr. White and
Mr. Wise. The Order was made party to the suit on the theory of respondent superior (i.e. the Master is
responsible for the servant). A copy of White and Wise’s summary of claims is available upon request
from the Superior Court of Arizona. (It is 17 pages long)
The Order has insurance and a demand for coverage was made with the result that Fireman’s Fund
Insurance Company retained Gerald Hickman of Jardine, Baker, Hickman, and Houston P.L.L.C. to
provide a defense. In addition Westport Insurance Company retained Daryl Audilett of Kimble, Nelson,
and Audilett, P.C. to assist in the representation. Currently, trail is set for March 6, 2007. A
counterclaim has been filed seeking recovery of the books and records.
Missing books and records.
3/28/05 David Sweeny requests Bank Statements from Jack Wise.
4/3/05 A request for Audit and turn over of Books is made by Roger Fuller.

Membership of Don White and Jack Wise
On November 15, 2005 letters were sent to Mr. White and Mr. Wise advising them that they w e r e
suspended from the Order pursuant to Bylaw Sec. 104.8 for their continuing failure to turn over the
books and records of the Order.

the 8th - 11th and SAQA Annual Meeting again in
Virginia Beach on the 15th. At the MAQA and SAQA I
was privileged to install their Association Officers for
2006 and at the PNQA I assisted Supreme Chimalma
Loran Goff in installing their officers. In every case,
an Artisan Degree was presented and I found the work,
costuming and props outstanding. My
congratulations to all the Warriors, Teocallis and
Association Officers involved.
Next it’s down to Mexico City for the dedication of
the new Shriners Hospital for Children on October
2nd and then to Albuquerque on the 12th - 16th.
I hope to see each of you there.

Supreme Huemac (formerly Titlauacan)
Supreme Office Manager Jim Brown and Supreme
Huemac Lou Metz have developed bars recognizing
Coates and Artisans to be worn on the traditional red,
white and green neck ribbon after receiving these
respective degrees, giving them more of a sense of
belonging to the organization.
These will be sent out when you send in a form 10A
along with a check for $20.00. This breaks down as
the usual $15.00 for a new Coate plus $5.00 for the
Coate and Artisan Bars with the neck ribbon.
For those who were members before this was
established the bars and ribbons are available from
the Supreme Office for $5.00.
This also raises the possibilities of more fineable
offenses i.e.: not wearing your medallion.
Pictured above are the Coate and Artisan Bars.
When a new member is taken in and a Form 10A is
sent in with the required fee of $20.00 your Secretary
will receive his Certificate and the Ribbon with a Coate
bar that the new member may wear right away, then
when he receives the Artisan degree he may then add
the Artisan bar. Thanks Lou and Jim.
Dear Editor, Since I don’t feel like being
harassed, embarrassed or vilified (had to look that
one up), here’s my article for the spring issue of
the Voice of the Coate. Since reading your Teocalli’s
news letter “The Braying Burro”, I believe! Oh, yes!
I believe.

OTTO’s NOTES
First of all let me thank the Almighty Architect of the
Universe for giving me the strength, health, means and
wisdom to be able to serve you my dear Brothers on
the Supreme line. My sincere thank You is also
extended to those that have chosen me to serve you. I
will do my best to make You proud of Your choice. My
goal is to serve all of You and to assist You in our
common goal to have Fun and serve our Children. As
good Shriners, we should always keep the Children in
mind. We have spent many wonderful hours together
and God willing we will spend many more. We should
always remember that our missteps are balanced by
our good deeds, and at the End we hope to have gained
sufficient favor to be remembered for our
overabundance of good deeds. May God bless You all,
Your families and our Shrine Children.
Otto J. Ludewig Your Supreme Titlauacan.
OKET Medallion History
One of Teocalli No. 142’s distinguished members, WilliamT. Branch, M.D., a prominent Tampa Urologist, may havefound the origin of our OKET medallion.
During a recent visit to London, Bill and his lovely LadyLavinia were touring the National Gallery when Bill noticed aCentral America Exhibit being featured and while wanderingthrough the exhibit, he came upon a jade statue that is anexact replica of the OKET medallion (see the accompanyingphotograph). The statue dates back to the year 1215 and isone of four that exist today. This is a remarkablecoincidence and we appreciate Bill sharing this informationwith his fellow Artisans.
