Bath Cradle - 3 in 1 SolutionInstallation Guide:Your new Orchid 3 in 1 System comes supplied with all parts required as specified, firstly check contents for signs of damage which may have occurred during transit an report any problems to your supplier immediately.

It is very important that you understand exactly how the 3 in 1 System operates and that you can operate it safely. We recommend that you try a few dry runs i.e. without a patient in the cradle, until you are completely satisfied with the operations.

Before use you should charge the battery, this MUST be carried out in a dry environment. Firstly attach the wall bracket in a suitable position close to a 240v power supply and then screw the charger in place and locate the battery on top of the charging unit. A full charge should take around 4 hours. A fully charged battery will last and operate your system for over a 40 cycles before requiring a re-charge. Replacement or spare batteries are available as optional extras.

Once charged the battery simply clicks onto the control box located at the inside of the base transporter. You should hear an audible click when the battery is located correctly, to remove the battery release the small lever located at the rear top of the battery. The battery can be removed in any cradle position, however we recommend that you rotate the cradle into the sitting position and then remove the cradle for easier access to the battery. See Fig 5.

Bath Cradle - 3 in 1 SolutionSafety Information:When transferring a patient and cradle to or from the base transporter a hoist, ALL four lifting bolts and ALL four lifting straps MUST be used. The aluminium carabiners simply clip onto the cradle lifting bolts and the opposite end attaches to the hoist’s spreader bar. See Fig 6 Hoist Straps, Fig 7 Attached & Fig 8 Hoist.

Before changing the position of the cradle please ensure that the patient’s hands and arms are in a safe position and cannot become trapped. Secure with the colour lap strap if necessary. See Fig 9

Once the cradle is in position on the base transporter or the in-bath support it MUST be secured in place using the location plungers. See Fig 10. To operate the plungers pull the black knobs and rotate 30° to lock in the release position, once the cradle is free of the base transporter or in-bath support return the location plungers to the lock position. When the cradle is returned to the base transporter align the cradle centrally and the plungers will re-lock automatically.

You new Orchid 3 in 1 System is fitted with four total locking brake castors which have been tested to 100 hours salt spray test. These should always be locked when the system is stationary, lock by pressing down the red lever at the top of the castors.

To change the position of the cradle from the sitting to showering or visa versa, simply press the button on the handset indicating the desired direction until the patient is in their preferred position. The side panels on the cradle {optional extra} must NOT be used to lift or manipulate the system. Patients may be moved up/ down inclines no greater than 5% {1 in 20} to avoid tipping.
