OPERATING PRINCIPLE

ORBIT valves are ideal where frequent cycling and a positive shut-off are required.

TO CLOSE AN ORBIT VALVE

To close an ORBITvalve, as thehandwheel isturned, the stem beginsto lower.

Precision spiralgrooves in the stemact against fixed guidepins, causing the stemand core to rotate.

Continued turning of thehandwheel rotates thecore and stem a full 90without the coretouching the seat.

Final turns of thehandwheelmechanically wedgethe stem down,pressing the corefirmly against the seat.

OPERATING PRINCIPLE

The ORBIT valve top entry design provides convenientaccess for inline inspection and repairs when required.For environmental protection, injectable packing canbe replenished while valves are under full linepressure, on enclosed bonnet models.

Every ORBIT valve incorporates a proven

tilt and turn operation that eliminates sealrubbing, which is the primary cause ofvalve failure.

When an ORBIT valve is closed, the core ismechanically wedged tightly against theseat, assuring positive shut-off.

When an ORBIT valve begins to open, thecore tilts away from the seat and line flowpasses uniformly around the core face.This eliminates the localized high velocityflow that typically creates uneven seatwear in ordinary ball, gate and plug valves.

The core then rotates to the full openposition.

The absence of seal rubbing during bothopening and closing means easy, lowtorque valve operation and long termreliable performance.

When valve leakage cannot be tolerated,the ORBIT operating principle can be reliedupon to deliver a positive shut-off.

The ORBIT valve shown is complete with an ORBIT pistonactuator that allows remote or automatic operation.

ORBIT builds complete packages that may include valve, actuator and instrumentation.Single source responsibility removes any doubt about where to call for service.

ORBIT valves are manufactured in avariety of materials, sizes and trimsto meet specific requirements.

Materials:

Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, Duplex SS,High Nickel Alloys and other specialmaterials are used as service conditionsrequire. Internal and external protectivecoatings are available for addeddurability in corrosive situations.

Seats:Elastomer or metal seal options areselected for the intended service.Because the seals in the valves do notrub and because they are mechanicallycompressed shut, they survive in hightemperature and abrasive situations.

Operation:Hand or power operation can be selected.ORBIT builds double acting, spring closeand spring open pneumatic actuators.

User selected electric and hydraulicactuators are available.Extensive instrumentation choices areoffered.

Customizing:Handwheel extensions, safety interlocks,position indicator limit switches, thermaljackets, custom painting and specialinspection can be provided.
