OPEN CLASSROOMS

Thank you to our parents and grandparents who enjoyed sharing their children’s activities in our open classrooms last week. Some even got to visit far away places, with our virtual reality kit!

EASTER HAT PARADE (ADVANCED INFORMATION)

On Friday, 12th April, Kindergarten, Year One and Year Two children will participate in an Easter Hat Parade starting at 11:50am on the asphalt area in front of the Stage 3 classrooms. The children are asked to make their own hats at home. We suggest they may like to decorate an old hat from home with Easter pictures and/or eggs etc.

This will be an exciting event for our infant students with each class parading their hats out on the playground in front of the Year 5/6 classrooms. Stage 2/3 students will also come out to enjoy the parade.

In conjunction with this event, Stage 2 will be organising an Easter raffle for which they are asking donations of Easter eggs, rabbits, bilbies or any other item that could be given as prizes, as well as small baskets. These items can be left at the school office. Tickets for the Easter raffle will be $1.00 each and sold under the COLA each morning and recess (starting next week), and before the parade starts.

Prior to the parade commencing, we will be holding a picnic recess with parents/carers and families invited to come along. The school P&C will be holding a cake stall with a variety of sweet refreshments available to purchase as well as tea/coffee. Fresh coffee will also be available from the school canteen.

SIGNING STUDENTS IN/OUT

A reminder for all parents and caregivers when coming to take your child/ren home during the school day (i.e. sick, appointment, trip) that children are signed-out via the school office. The easiest way to do this is come directly to the office and notify Mrs Gold or Mrs Watson that you wish to sign your child-out. They will send for your child and complete the correct paperwork (only takes about 30 seconds). If the office is unattended, alternatively please come to the staffroom and a staff member will assist.

KINDER PARENT/TEACHER INTERVIEWS

During week 9 and 10 we will have our Parent Teacher Interviews for our Kindergarten students. These will allow parents and teachers to discuss how the children have settled into school and also how they are progressing. We will also give you information about the Best Start assessment that took place before school commenced.

Simply follow the link: www.schoolinterviews.com.au Enter the event code: cgths

The website will guide you through three simple steps, and moments later you'll get an email confirming your bookings. Easy! And if you need to change or cancel your bookings, just enter the event code again. If you're on the same computer, you'll go straight to your bookings.

If you are having problems booking an appointment please contact the office to assist.

Please note: Kinder Kangaroo parents if you would like to have a meeting with both Katie and Toni, please book an appointment on a Wednesday either Week 9 or 10.

KINDERGARTEN EYE SCREENING

The local optometrists of Orange have donated their time to conduct a visual screening of the Kindergarten children at our school who have not had their eyes examined in the last 12 months. The screening has been specifically designed for Kindergarten aged children and enables the identification of those children with vision difficulties, which may hinder their performance in the classroom. If you would like your child to participate in the visual screening please sign and return permission note that have been sent home by Tuesday 2nd April. Please return form even if you do not wish for your child to be examined.

SRC BADGES

The SRC Badges will be presented to our primary students this Friday Assembly commencing at 2.15pm

SCHOOL GATES

A reminder that all gates, with the exception of the Spring Street gate, are locked each morning at approximately 9.15am. If by chance a gate is closed, but unlocked, you can gain access throughout the day, however, please close it behind you. This is to ensure the safety of students, particularly if they are at risk of absconding from school grounds.

ROAD SAFETY

A reminder please to exercise extreme caution driving around our various school zones during morning and afternoon drop-off/pick-up. We ask parents/caregivers to please only park in designated areas and also remind drivers that double parking and also exceeding 40km/h in the zones/times is illegal. I also remind parents that it is not a staff responsibility to assist students to cross roads around the school zone. I have asked for extra police patrols to be conducted around our school zone this week.

ASSEMBLY AWARDS

Congratulations to the following Infant students Jayda Quinlan, Lucas Budd, Isobel Jackett, Tully Davis, Beau Ravot-Smith and Madison O’Brien for receiving a sticker on their award sheet. Congratulations to Ella Hack and Tynan Williams for receiving their first sticker and Skye Sligar for completing her 50 award sheet.

PRINCIPAL AWARDS

STAFF TRAINING

As previously, each week we will put information in the newsletter around any upcoming training which will require the regular teacher to be replaced. We hope this information is useful in understanding what is happening with your child/ren’s class and any disruptions that may occasionally occur. As always, we endeavour to maintain continuity and consistency of learning in all classrooms to the best of our ability.
