Sood While flipping over my file Capt Sagar asked about place where I am staying (Noida), owned property or rented. Why I haven’t thought of buying or investing in property in NCR region. Why marks were not very good in 12 th even though 10 th marks were very good. Capt Sood asked about connectivity of Noida sect 62 with Delhi, since they were planning for FOSMA over there also. Then Capt Sagar asked. Why did I left Tolani after second mates and ESM after Mates? He also asked why that is after 10 years at sea and 6 contracts as 2 nd mate, I was still sailing as 2 nd officer with NYK. To which I replied having changed the company and type of ships after mates, NYK asked me to do 2 more ships with them as 2 nd mate before they can promote me. Then he asked, how much time or contracts for master in NYK I told not before 5 contracts. Then he asked do you plan to leave the company for quicker promotions. I said no had it been the case I would have done it much before. Then my file was handed over to Capt Sood for further questions. Capt Sood handed over a bulk carrier ship model and asked me to assume it to be my last PCTC and then answer the questions. 5 Night cards randomly picked 1 Towing vessel crossing from stbd to port. 2 Dredger with obstruction on port side end on. 3 Mine clearance crossing port to stbd. 4 PD >50 m nearly end on ½ point on stbd bow. 5 Pair trawling shooting nets on stbd 3-4 points.

While flipping over my file Capt Sagar asked about place where I am staying (Noida), owned property or rented. Why I haven’t thought of buying or investing in property in NCR region. Why marks were not very good in 12th even though 10th marks were very good. Capt Sood asked about connectivity of Noida sect 62 with Delhi, since they were planning for FOSMA over there also. I said no had it been the case I would have done it much before. Then my file was handed over to Capt Sood for further questions.

Capt Sood handed over a bulk carrier ship model and asked me to assume it to be my last PCTC and then answer the questions.

5 Night cards randomly picked1 Towing vessel crossing from stbd to port.2 Dredger with obstruction on port side end on.3 Mine clearance crossing port to stbd.4 PD >50 m nearly end on ½ point on stbd bow.5 Pair trawling shooting nets on stbd 3-4 points.

1 Day Card, Capt asked me, no need to identify just tell me your action and what light will this vessel show in night.1 Dredger with obstruction seen end on.

2 Buoys 1 East cardinal mark2 Region B Lateral Starboard Hand mark

Which region does India follow? I said region B (Big blunder), but Capt asked me what is the difference between region A & B, while telling that I corrected India myself and told India is in Region A, not Region B, then he asked me to tell 2 countries in Region B.

With this cards were kept aside and came out a paper and pen on which Capt Sood’s sketched one of his favorite Ship Maneuvering / handling question.

Was asked to plan the passage and then berth Stbd Side. Vessel was provided with B/T and Engines no tugs. I had to describe location of Pivot point during the entire passage, speed of vessel and rudder movement at various stages and reasons for that, shallow water effects, effects of wind and current. Demonstrate use of anchor for berthing (Must). B/T operational on speeds less than 5 knots and requires 30 mins notice.
