USE SUPACOOL FOR FASTER MOULD COOLING.

Supacool, manufactured by La Plastecnica, is a cooling system

designed to accelerate the cooling of plastic components within

the mould.

This is achieved by atomising water inside the plastic part via

an air activated intruding nozzle. The water removes heat

energy by vaporising into steam, which is subsequently vented

out of the mould.

50% COOLING TIME REDUCTION POSSIBLE.

Production trials in Australia and New Zealand have successfully

demonstrated cooling cycle time reductions of up to 50% are

possible for water tanks ranging from 500L to 5000L.

Supacool is ideal for bi-axial ovens as the Supacool unit attaches

and travels with the mould during the complete heating and

cooling cycle. They can also be used on rock and roll machines.

External fan forced air cooling is not fast enough. To maximise

cooling rate Supacool benefits from simultaneous external water

spray. This also helps balance the internal and external cooling

profile.

Supacool internal water cooling will reduce your cooling cycle time. It will challenge you to reduce your oven

heating cycle time to enable your oven to keep up with cooling speeds.

Supacool provides the step change in the sophistication of rotational moulding

MOULD IN DEMOULDING STATION READY FOR SERVICING

PRODUCTION TRIAL – 5000L TANK.

Supacool was installed on a fabricated steel 5000L water

tank tool, using a 2” Table E flange, running on a standard 4

arm carousel machine. Supacool was installed separate to

the existing vent. Oven temperature was 260C for 29minutes.

Standard cooling was 20minutes ambient air in pre-cool

station and 20minutes in cooling bay, with fan forced air.

Using the same oven process conditions we compared the

effect of using internal water cooling against standard fan

forced cooling. In the examples shown to the right you can

see that there was an 11minute or 44% difference.

When you look at the thermographs you can see that the

maximum temperature for both plastic tanks was similar (82C

vs 86C). The Supacool tank displays a point temperature of

56.9C which reflects the effect of the external water spray

used. The pattern indicates poor water misting design. The

external cooling is not uniform. Improving the external water

misting would enable faster cooling of the tank, with a 50%

reduction in cooling time achievable.
