Applications

Multi-service CPE with HighService Availability for BusinessCustomersThe A-2100 boasts a broad range ofintelligent network services, featuringgranular Quality of Service (QoS) andsub-50ms protection that enable serv-ice providers to rapidly provision se-cure Ethernet access with fully MEF-compliant Service Level Agreements(SLAs).• High revenues from multi-services• Fast trouble-shooting with the help

of strong OAM functions• Flexible customer traffic mapping

schemes• Support for single-strand fiber,

reducing fiber costs• Ease of management and service

provisioning

ETSI-compliant Multi-serviceAggregator in Central Office (CO)Suitable for CO and street cabinet deployment with ETSI compliance, the A-2100 can be used in the CO toaggregate multiple business customersand deliver flexible, affordable E-Line,E-LAN and multicast or E-Tree serv-ices as well as TDM services.• Rich set of interfaces with high port

density allows aggregating manycustomers of various types

• A complete solution working with A-100, A-1180 and A-210 demarca-tion devices, providing end-to-end management and OAM functions

• Single-strand fiber interfaces, reducing fiber cost

• Support for TDM grooming functions (T1/E1 to OC-3/STM-1),helping keep the existing TDM-based services unchanged whileproviding new Ethernet services

FTTH/FTTC Aggregator forTriple-Play ServicesThe A-2100 also delivers triple-playservices in FTTH/FTTC environments. It features all the standards-based multicast functions with full protectionagainst both network failure and videosource failure. Carriers and serviceproviders are able to build a single infrastructure to serve both businessand residential markets.• Connection-oriented multicast solu-

tion for IPTV that is more scalablethan IP-based multicast protocolsuch as PIM-SM

• Stringent QoS for guaranteed voice and video services

• 50ms protection against both net-work failure and video source failure

• Fast Channel Zapping and IGMPACL

• Support for Open Access BusinessModel

MEF-Compliant Service AttributesThe A-2100 delivers flexible, affordableFast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet access interfaces, supporting point-to-point, point-to-multipoint and multipoint-to-multipoint services. Customer trafficcan be mapped to connections usingany combination of rules from layer 1to layer 3.

The A-2100 fully supports Service Level Agreements defined by MEFservice definitions including:• Committed Information Rate (CIR)• Excess Information Rate (EIR)• Priority for bounded delay and jitter• Protection levels (sub-10sec or

sub-50ms)

In addition to pure Ethernet connectivity, service providers can migrate legacyTDM traffic onto their Carrier Ethernetnetwork using Circuit Emulation Services modules that provide ITU-Tcompliant E1/T1, E3/T3 and STM-1/OC-3 interfaces.

Full Protection and ReliabilityThe A-2100 has been designed to de-liver the SONET-like 50ms protectionand reliability that carriers demand, butwith the price, performance and scala-bility of Carrier Ethernet. Unlike otherproducts that base their protectionmechanism on Spanning Tree Proto-col, which leads to poor scalability, long and non-deterministic fail-overtime, the protection mechanism of theA-2100 is similar to MPLS FastReroute, and thus can achieve sub-50ms fail-over time. It also offers anend-to-end protection mechanism thatprotects against any types of failurewithin sub-10seconds, according toservice profiles.
