Research & Presentation

Aims of this session:

• Show that you understand the requirements of the brief.

• To explore job roles within different related industries and prepare a presentation

• To explore University opportunities within the creative arts field and prepare a presentation.

Progression Routes Task 1:

1. Research the broad range of job roles that are available. Use the Internet, magazines, and research relevant companies, and speak with other professionals if relevant. This will be presented in a blog page supported by annotation and visuals.

• Identify areas of interest and find examples that relate to your specialist area

• Unit Criteria: 1.1 Critically describe progression opportunities within art and design education or related employment.

Progression Routes Task 2:

2. Research University courses by visiting open days, and finding relevant courses on the internet, and collecting prospectuses. Identify the elements of the courses that appeal to you and how it could lead to a career in your chosen specialism. These will be presented in a blog supported by annotation and visuals, and as paper based evidence.

3. Research Apprenticeship opportunities by finding relevant information on the internet,and visiting the college Job Pod. Identify Apprenticeships that appeal to you and how it could lead to a career in your chosen specialism. These will be presented in a blog supported by annotation and visuals, and as paper based evidence.

Progression Opportunities

• I need to see some solid research, with imagery and appropriate links etc. which covers:

• the different roles available and what they entail,

• the different industries which these roles fit into,

• the type of work different professional do,...

• More in-depth investigation into your chosen specialist roles, with job descriptions, pay grades and different levels etc.

• You should have also begun to investigate different universities and apprenticeship opportunities within your specilaist field, what they entail, examples of course content and qualifications etc.

Understanding & Developing a Portfolio

Portfolio & Presentation Task 1:

1. Find examples of a range of designers’ portfolios. Use these to develop your own digital/traditional portfolio in preparation for University or employment. Reflect on your research and development of portfolio through annotation.

• Planning and preparing pages for a digital/traditional portfolio

• Identify how it is aimed at your chosen specialism, and reflect on its effectiveness.
