Inherent in this is that our sport must be conducted in the safest possible environment at all time. It is essential that all drivers have a clear understanding of the basic safety requirements of the sport before they obtain their first licence and begin driving on all KA licenced Race Tracks. The sport of kart racing is great fun but it can present many dangerous scenarios to not just the competitors but also to the parents/guardians/support crew of competitors. The Safety Training Assessment will be used to introduce specific safety aspects of the sport to new participants. On the successful completion of this assessment they will be allowed to participate in KA sanctioned karting activities, specifically practicing on a KA licenced race tracks. Extract Of Rule - Competition Rules Chapter 4 Competition Licences Rule 7 Safety Training Assessment a) After completing a licence application, a Driver is required to successfully complete a Safety Training Assessment. b) The Safety Training Assessment encompasses the key safety elements to participate in KA sanctioned karting activities. c) The Safety Training Assessment may be arranged through a Club or the State Association. *Note: Applicable to all persons applying for a new KA licence (not licence renewals.) Procedure Before any Driver shall be permitted to practice on a KA licenced Race Track they are required to undergo a Safety Training Assessment. This training assessment shall have the following key elements and are detailed in the Assessment Record that must be completed by an Official of a Club affiliated with KA: Equipment and Apparel Check Inspection of karting equipment and apparel to be used. Overview of the practice arrangements in place at the facility Private and general practice requirements at the facility Access to and safe use of the paddock (no driving of karts in the paddock area) Safety requirements for private practice Control of general practice and racing at the facility.

Explanation of the practice order and schedule for the ClubHow general practice is conducted at the facility (when you can and cannot go out onto the Race Track)

Safe Use of the Race TrackHow to safely enter and exit the circuitFlags and or light signals induction with particular reference to Yellow, Red, Black and Chequered flag meaningand usage (Ref. Competition Rules Chapter 2 Flag / Light Signals)Confirmation that they are to follow the direction of an official at all times.

What to do in the case of an emergency.

On completion of this Safety Assessment, the licence holder shall be allowed to practice on a KA licenced Race Track.

Any club official shall be entitled to conduct the Safety Training Assessment.

On completion of the Safety Training Assessment an Observed Licence Test must be completed before the licenceholder is eligible to Compete at a Race meeting.

It is highly recommended that each club use this opportunity to induct the new member into the club/facility advisingthem of all key information including key Club contacts.

Chequered:The display of the black and white chequered flag will determine the end of the race, qualifying andpractice. As soon as the Black and White Chequered flag has been shown to a Driver and the Driverhas cleared the Finish Line, he/she must stop racing, not pass any other karts and proceed directly,using only the authorised route, to Parc Fermé in the order of their finishing position.EmergencyWhat to do in the case of an emergency.
