Transportation Department
Allen ISD Transportation safely transports approximately 6,000 students arriving on time and ready to learn each day. The district currently utilizes 119 buses on a daily basis, transporting children who live two miles or more from their assigned school.
The transportation staff is committed to the safety of each of our student bus riders. We do not take this great responsibility lightly, as evidenced by our goal of continually improving our excellent safety record and by our standing challenge to each other: to protect each student as if each child were our own. We feel fortunate to have one of the most experienced and dedicated transportation teams in North Texas.

What is the difference between Facilities and Maintenance?
Facilities Department
Facilities Department areas of responsibility includes construction along with capital improvement if it is cost effective, supports student learning or operationally necessary. The Facilities Department oversees all construction, renovations and additions; this work includes alterations or work performed to change the material function of an area or space. Changes to the interior arrangement or other physical characteristics of an existing facility to change the designated purpose or adapt to a new use is the function of Facilities Construction Department and is referred to the Executive Director of Facilities and Chief Operations Officer for evaluation and/or completion. Facility modifications, upgrades, remodeling, expansion and contractions are all the purview of the Executive Director of Facilities and Chief Operations Officer. Facilities Maintenance may assist with alterations, modifications, upgrades or remodels when the maintenance work load permits or it is cost effective to do so.

Operations Handbook
Maintenance Department
The Maintenance Department provides maintenance, repair and utility services for facilities through such trades as carpentry, electrical, general maintenance, HVAC, locksmith, and plumbing. Routine maintenance, corrective maintenance, emergency maintenance, urgent maintenance, and preventive maintenance are all administered by Facilities Maintenance to insure personal safety, operational and structural integrity, as well as the longevity of building components and systems. The term “maintenance” normally applies to both maintenance and repair of existing buildings and building systems. Maintenance is defined as all actions which have the objective of retaining or restoring an item in or to a state in which it can perform its required function. Maintenance includes inspection; adjustment, lubrication, and cleaning (non-custodial) of equipment; painting; resurfacing; and other actions to assure continuing service and to prevent breakdown. Maintenance does not prolong the design service life of the property or equipment, nor does it add to the value of the asset or property. Maintenance is typically preventive in nature and is usually preplanned and scheduled. Repairs include work to restore damaged or worn-out property or equipment to normal operating condition. Repairs are curative and are usually reactive in nature and a response to a service request. The trades respond to both scheduled maintenance and emergency or urgent maintenance issues.

Safe and Secure Schools
In Allen ISD, the safety of students, staff and visitors is our top priority and we take this responsibility very seriously. Our comprehensive security program addresses prevention, intervention, student assistance, preparedness, emergency response and building security.
AISD routinely reviews safety and security procedures and makes adjustments when necessary. That means we’re constantly exploring new and creative ways to enhance existing security measures and adopting those policies and protocols proven to be effective in reducing risk.
It is a team effort – we rely on the continued support of students, parents and the community to keep our schools safe. We work closely with our local police and fire departments to coordinate prevention and response activities, perform regular security audits and provide frequent training to all employees
on security issues.
