increase or decrease one hour for Summer time.23. 6 Conversion keys : In Calculator mode, press these keys to enter into

the Metric conversion mode.24. 8 Currency : In Calculator mode, press these keys to enter into

the Currency conversion mode.25. DM : In local time mode, press this key to display the English format.26. MD : In local time mode, press this key to display the American format.27. 12/24 : In local time mode, press this key to change your display

format to 12 or 24 hours.28. ALARM : In local time mode, press ALARM key to switch On or OFF for

ALARM function.

BATTERY FITTING

1. Your translator is powered by one CR2032 lithium battery. When the power levelof the battery is low, display is dim. If it happens, replace the battery immediately asthe following steps.

a) Turn off the machine.b) Pull off the battery compartment.c) Remove the old batteries and replace them with new ones, ensure that the

positive (+) poles are on top, same as the symbol indicated inside the batterycompartment.

d) Make sure that the batteries make a good contact with the metal plates in thebattery compartment.

e) Pull the battery compartment inside the cabinet.

Note: --There is NO backup battery for address book. Please replace the battery within fewseconds time in order to save the Databank memory when you replace the battery. Theinformation inside your databank memory might be lost, please record your informationand input again afterwards before replacing battery.

OPERATIONBefore starting, please read this instruction manual carefully and be sure follow thecorrect operating procedures. Keep this instruction manual for future reference.

A. SWITCH ON YOUR TRANSLATOR -Pulling out the battery isolating tape from the battery compartment, yourtranslator will start to Power ON. Display shows the LOCAL TIME.

** The device always starts in the mode that was active when it was last switch off.For example, if you were in calculator mode during the last use, you will be incalculator mode again when you switch the device back on.

B. LOCAL TIME

1. Display shows:'L' is flashing, means LOCAL.

2. Press 'DATE', screen displays the date,day and time.

3. Press 'DM',screen displays the British format.And Press MD to change American format.

4. Press '12/24', screen changes to 24-hour format.

5. Press '12/24' again to change back to 12-hour format.

6. Press 'DST' in case you are in Summer daylight savingtime. Screen displays 'Z' next to the current time.The current time will automatically advance by one hour.Press 'DST' again, the screen returns to original time.

7. Press 'DATE', the screen returns to the homeplace and time.

8. Press 'EDIT', to enter into set up mode. The

place name is flashing. Press up or down keys ( )to search the place you like to take.Or you can type in the first alphabet of the placename and then to Search, e.g. press (N) for find theNew York, display shows all the cities name whichfirst alphabet is N.Press the down key ( ) until New York appears.

E.g. change the time to 5:30:00appears and then press the right ( ) key to next step,the minute is flashing, press the Up ( ) key until30:00 appear.Press the Right ( ) key again and go to change thedate. B. SETTING THE DAILY ALARM

An alarm sounds daily whenever a preset alarm time is reached. The daily alarm can onlybe set when it is in local time mode.

1. Press <TIME> to enter into local time mode.

2. Press <ALARM> to enter into alarm mode,display shows:

3. To set an alarm:a) OFF is flashing, press the <UP> and <DOWN> key

b) Press <LEFT> or <RIGHT> key ( ) set up the timeyou require. E.g. set the time to 14:30. Press <DOWN>key ( ) until 14:00 appears. Press the <RIGHT> key( ) to the next step, the minutes is flashing, press the

<DOWN> key ( ) until 30 appears. Press <EDIT> or<ENTER> to confirm the time.

4. Once the time reach 14:30, the translator will alarms.5. Press any keys to stop the alarm. Otherwise the alarm will last for 60 seconds and

stop automatically.6. To clear the daily alarm, go back to Alarm mode to select Alarm off.

C. LCD contrast adjustment1. The LCD Contrast can only be adjusted when you are in Local time mode.2. Press Page up ( ) to make the screen darker or Down ( ) to make the screen lighter.3. There are 32 contrast levels. Press the Page Up and down key ( ) once by once

can get each level. I.e. Press 32 times up can get the darkest screen, and press32 times Down can get the lightest screen.

D. Using the World Time

1. Press time/world to enter to world time mode(200 cities bane are displayed with English only).Display shows the place name which you edit atlast time, and the flashing 'W' means world.

2. Search your required city by pressing the Up and down key ( ) or type the firstalphabet of the city name to get in the place.

E. USING THE TRANSLATOR

a. LANGUAGE SELECTION - You can select any 2 languages for your homelanguage and language of translation.

b. WORD TRANSLATION - The translator contains about 8,000 words. It helpyou to translate 8 language instantly.

6. To enter a new word, just type or press<CLEAR> key and then type it in.

REMEMBER ! : You language of translation changes to the last language which youselected, e.g. your last translation is Spanish 'LIBRO'. A new word is atSpanish translation until you select the others.

c. WORD FINDING - If the word(s) you entered is not in the database, thedisplay will show the nearest word(s) instantly.

d. DATABASE SEARCH - Type in a word, press ENTER for translation. Press thePAGE UP / DOWN key and you can search all keywordsin the database.

e. FOR THE LANGUAGES HAVE THEIR OWN ALPHABET WITH ACCENT -Simply press the original key and then Accent key ACNT, the display willshow different alphabet and let you to select.

** Note : THE ACCENT ALPHABET can be formed just in their own language mode,If you press the 'ACNT' when it is not the one of alphabet in the home language,the display has no response.

You can use the Translator to do standard arithmetic calculations, memorycalculation and percent calculations. It calculates up to 10 digits.

H. USING THE CURRENCY CONVERSIONThe Translator can convert between 8 user-programmed currencies and yourown denomination.

a) SETTING THE CURRENCY AND EXCHANGE RATES1. Press <CAL>, and then C1, display shows:2. Press <EDIT>, the exchange rate is flashing,

You can protect your DATABANK information by inputting your personal password.Before you input the password, make sure you can remember the password numberotherwise your DATABANK will be locked until you reset your Translator.

7) When you type in a correct password, it will release youto the DATABANK mode. If you type in an incorrectpassword, display will flash INCORRECT PASSWORDand ask you ENTER PASSWORD ! again.

8) Release your password, press <LOCK> when it is inthe LOCAL TIME mode, display shows:ENTER PASSWORD!

9) When you enter a correct password, display flashesUNLOCK, the password is released and displayreturns to LOCAL TIME mode, display shows:

10) If you enter an incorrect password, display returns toLOCAL TIME mode and the password does not bereleased.

11) If you forget the password, you have to reset the Translator. In this case, allthe information in your DATABANK will be lost.
