An encourager can help another make
a comeback long after that person has
failed. So many people fail and then
assume that they are permanently
disqualified from ever being
cherished and valued by God
again.

The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by man, nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything. And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place, that they should seek God, and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him. Yet he is actually not far from each one of us. Acts 17:24-27
Paul told hearers in ancient Athens that the "Lord of heaven and earth" is not confined to temples built by humans, nor is he dependent on humans for anything. Rather, the "God who made the world" has continued to creatively work among all human beings throughout the history of the world. It strikes me that since God is powerful enough even to determine humanity's "allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place" then he also is able to do lesser things like manage what goes on (whether they themselves know or acknowledge such) in business corporations -- such as various oil companies in our city and state.
Last Wednesday evening we said "goodbye" (lit. "God-be-with-ye" ) to Gary Kittle, who is moving to Houston to begin work with a company that builds offshore drilling platforms, McDermott International . In July, 2015, Gary, who trained as an engineer at Purdue University and earned a law degree from Loyola University New Orleans, came to North "A" when ConocoPhillips moved him from Malaysia to Midland to head an engineering group. Then last Fall the company eliminated that work group here, leaving Gary in search of a new job. It has been a pleasure to get to know Gary, who has blessed our efforts at North "A" in many ways, and we are sad to see him leave our city and our congregation. But we know that Gary will be a blessing elsewhere as he finds his place among God's people in Houston. One interesting aspect of Gary's new job is that he will be working from time to time in McDermott's newly opened office in Mexico City, and so I have passed along contact information for him to make connections with the Rocha family and the Iglesia de Cristo Metropolitana.
