6 THREE-POINT-LINKAGE

6.1 General InstructionsThe mounting categories of the tractor and the implement must be compatible ormust be made compatible.

6.2 Vertical Adjustment of DrawbarThe drawbar (1) is vertically adjustable. Incase the implement can not be liftedsufficiently from the ground or too muchtractor wheel slip will be experienced, thedrawbar must be fitted in the lowerposition. In case the penetration isinsufficient, the pressure load on the rolleror rollers is insufficient or the tractor liftcapacity is insufficient, the drawbar mustbe fitted in the upper position.

6.3 Change of the Drawbar PositionIf required, change the drawbar position as follows:Loosen bolts (S) of carriers (P), reverse carriers by 180 °, fit bolts (S) and secure.Use Loctite and tighten nuts to a torque of 580 Nm.

• Read and adhere to the General Safety Instructions! See section 1!

7 ADJUSTMENTS

7.1 Share position

The share position of TERRADISC and TERRADISC Ü can be altered. A flatshare position ensures an even seedbed depth (point (5) and wings (6) worknearly at the same depth) and reduces the traction requirement; a steep shareposition ensures a good penetration, even in hard and dry soils. With the TERRADISC having a shearbolt device and with the TERRADISC 9 Ühaving a bolted tine carrier (DS) with double cutting shearbolt device, the tineposition and thus the share position will be altered by repositioning the shearbolt(7).

Hole A = flat position (especially for heavy sticky soils = easier to pull)

Hole B = steep position (especially for dry and hard conditions = improvedpenetration)

With the TERRADISC Ü with cranked tine carrier (VZ), however, the shareposition will be altered by slackening and by turning (180°) the eccentric bolt (8)having first slackened shearbolt (7). Two tine positions are possible.

• Read and adhere to the General Safety Instructions! See section 1!

• Change the share angle position only with the implement lifted 2 - 3cm only.

• Use only suitable spanners and tools.

Page 14: Operating Instructions - agroparts...Operating Instructions Disc cultivator Terradisc 9/260, 9/300, 9/400 S 9/260 Ü, 9/300 Ü and 9/400 SÜ Safety is our concern! Art.Nr. 175 1217

12

7.2 Depth adjustment of the tinesThe tines (19) respectively shares (5, 6)should be set at a working depth of 8 - 12cm; with greater soil unevenness or deepwheel marks a deeper cultivation depthmay be required.Adjust working depth of the tines afterraising the implement some cm as follows:

Placing the lower pin (2) in a deeper hole=> increased working depth.

Placing the lower pin (2) in an upper hole=> reduced working depth.

The upper pins (12) located above thecarrier (13) are for obtaining enoughclearance between the ground and the tube-bar-roller, with the cultivator raised. If with raised cultivator the tube-bar-roller (14) is still touching the ground or is tooclose to the ground, then with fully lowered cultivator the pins (12) must be placedin a lower hole above the carrier (13).The length of the top link should be adjusted so that the frame (15) is nearlyparallel to the ground. Top link fitting depends on the required re-consolidationeffect of the tube-bar-roller.

• Read and adhere to the General Safety Instructions! See section 1!• When adjusting the working depth, raise cultivator a few cm, only!

Page 15: Operating Instructions - agroparts...Operating Instructions Disc cultivator Terradisc 9/260, 9/300, 9/400 S 9/260 Ü, 9/300 Ü and 9/400 SÜ Safety is our concern! Art.Nr. 175 1217

13

7.3 Wing sharesThe wing shares (6) must be fittedunderneath the frog (SF) as shown in theright handed picture. The chamfered side ofthe wing share must point upwards. Anincorrect mounting leads to share breakage.

7.4 Depth adjustment of the discsThe disc units (20) should be set atapproximate half the working depth of thetines (19). The discs (18) are for mixing andfor levelling the ridges and grooves left bythe rear tines. When working too deep, newridges and grooves will be built, and whenworking too shallow, the grooves and ridgesleft by the tines will be levelled insufficiently. An optimum depth adjustment is achievedwhen the following tube-bar-roller (14) is"filled" with soil throughout the total workingwidth. If the roller area behind the discs is filled withmore soil than in the area between the discs, the discs are working too shallow.Conversely the discs are working too deep ifthe roller area between the discs is filled withmore soil than the area behind the discs.

The working depth can be adjusted asfollows:

− Take out securing clip and remove pin (21).− Adjust discs (18) vertically.− Re-fit pin (21) and secure.

After depth adjustment of the discs, an adjustment correction is notrequired after altering the depth of the tines!

• Read and adhere to the General Safety Instructions! See section 1!

• Adjust discs only with fully lowered machine.

Page 16: Operating Instructions - agroparts...Operating Instructions Disc cultivator Terradisc 9/260, 9/300, 9/400 S 9/260 Ü, 9/300 Ü and 9/400 SÜ Safety is our concern! Art.Nr. 175 1217

14

7.5 RollersThe Terradisc can be equipped with D400 and D540 tube bar rollers, with doublerollers as well as with packer rollers ZPW 500. The re-consolidation effect of theroller (14) can be influenced by setting the top link steeper or more horizontal; indoing so the tractor hydraulics must be set to "Floating position" or “Mixed control”(with too much slippage).Following results can be achieved:

Steeply set top link => small re-consolidating effect, less steeply set top link => medium re-consolidating effect, approximately horizontal set top link => good re-consolidating effect.

If the roller is sinking too deep into the soil (in light and sandy soils) and/or will notroll and the top link cannot be set still more steeply (i.e. higher at the implement orlower at the tractor), then the pressure of the roller can be reduced by setting thetractor hydraulics to "Draft control" or "Mixed control". This is also recommendableif the tractor shows too much slippage. For such soils also a roller of 540 mm diameter instead of the standard one of 400mm diameter is recommended. In extremely sticky soils the packer roller ZPW 500 equipped with scrapers isrecommended. This roller ensures an exact depth guiding and a good re-consolidation.

• Read and adhere to the General Safety Instructions! See section 1!

• Change top link position with fully lowered cultivator, only!

Page 17: Operating Instructions - agroparts...Operating Instructions Disc cultivator Terradisc 9/260, 9/300, 9/400 S 9/260 Ü, 9/300 Ü and 9/400 SÜ Safety is our concern! Art.Nr. 175 1217

15

7.6 Packer roller scrapers

The scrapers (Z1) must be adjusted regularly. They should be positioned to thesurface of the roller by the adjuster nuts (Z2) of the scraper carrier (Z3) as shownin the sketch above. If soils sticks to the roller the scrapers must be adjusted. Dried soil on the rollercreates high wear and also damages the scrapers (Z1). Therefore always removesoil before continuing work.

The scrapers must be adjusted as follows:− The synthetic scrapers (K) must contact the roller with a little pressure.− The scrapers (A) must be adjusted as close as possible to the roller, but must

not touch it.− The standard scrapers (S) must always be in contact with the roller.

8 SHEARBOLTS

Each tine (19) and disc carrier is fitted with a shearbolt (7) which will save theframe, tines and discs against overload.

Replace sheared bolt as follows:

a) Raise cultivator a few cm.b) Remove all remains of the shearbolt (7).c) Swing tine and/or disc carrier back into position.d) Fit new shearbolt into hole concerned and tighten carefully.

Only shearbolts according to the schedule below should be used. Otherwise thereis a serious risk of damage to frame, tine or disc carrier or a premature failuremay be experienced.

9 TERRADISC 9 Ü WITH AUTOMATIC OVERLOAD SAFETY DEVICE

The TERRADISC 9 Ü cultivator isespecially designed for stony soils, andthe tines (19) are equipped with anautomatic overload safety device withsprings (35), protecting the implementfrom damage when an obstacle isencountered.

The tines trip back upon impact andautomatically return to the workingposition once the obstacle has beenpassed.

The cultivator is additionally protected bymeans of shearbolts (7).

As special equipment also hollow discs(25) with automatic overload safetydevice are available.

• Read and adhere to theGeneral Safety Instruc-tions! See section 1!

• Coil springs are underload!

• If a tripped tine will not swing back into its working position, the bolts may betightened too much. Slacken the bolts concerned but note that the tine willswing back into its working position with its full power. Keep a distance from theswinging and tripping area of the tines!

10.2 Push-linkage device

The Terradisc 9, 9S, 9 Ü and 9 SÜ disc cultivators can also be used frontmounted in connection with a push-linkage device. Therefore the parallel linkagewith hollow discs and roller or rollers must be detached and a front headstock(FB) as push-linkage device must be fitted.Additionally tail wheels (SR) must be fitted in front of the frame of the disccultivator. The supports (S) will be fitted to the front headstock by means of thebore (A) or (B).Bore (A) will be chosen, if it is required to set the front headstock and therewiththe connections points (AB) deeper. For example in order to lift the Terradischigher. Bore (B) is the recommended mounting position. During work the fronthydraulic of the tractor must be set to floating position. The working depthadjustment will be done by means of the pin adjustment (SV) of the tail wheels. For the use in the rear in combination with the parallel linkage with hollow discsand roller or rollers, the front headstock can remain at the disc cultivator, whenthe supports (S) are connected to the bore (C) of the front headstock (FB).The tail wheels (SR) of the push-linkage device follow the steering movement ofthe tractor. The stop (A) prevents that the drive wheels turn outside especiallyduring transport. The following minimum and maximum allowed air pressures ofthe tyres must be adhered to:

The straw harrow (H) will be fitted between the following roller and the hollowdiscs (18) and to the lower carrier (T).By means of the pin (ST) the straw harrow can be adjusted either in workingdepth as well as in the distance to the hollow discs (18).By means of the pins (S2) the angle of the harrow to the soil will be adjusted. Thepin (S1) prevents a swinging back of the straw harrow in lifted position. For work the straw harrow must be adjusted, so that the straw will be distributedvery well, but not pile up.It must be ensured, that the tines (Z) of the straw harrow do not touch thefollowing roller.

The steeper the harrow tines (Z) are positioned, the better is the crumbling. The less steep the harrow tines (Z) are positioned, the less is the danger ofclogging.

Straw, which will be taken along by the harrow tines, can be taken out by therollers again. Therewith the danger of clogging will be minimised.
