Open letter from TEU branch presidents to ministers of education

description

We wish to express our concern at the passage last night of the Education Amendment Bill, despite overwhelming opposition from those in tertiary education affected by the legislation, including vice-chancellors, tertiary councils, staff and students. We do not believe your government ever presented reasoned evidence or justification for removing the legislated right for staff and students to have democratically elected representatives on councils, or for diminishing the size of councils.
