Extract from the notice board (Notice No: 86, dated: 25.08.2020)
Dear students, Greetings! As you are aware, the much-awaited formalities for internships for this year amidst the pandemic have already begun in full swing. CDC wishes you the best for your participation and excellent performance for the same. This would be your first experience with any of the CDC affairs and therefore, we wished to connect with you so that your experience with CDC and the hiring firms is pleasant. The CDC team has worked hard in bringing the firms on board in this hour of crisis. For the first time, online processing on such large scales are going to take place which will be a challenging task for you all, the CDC team as well as the companies. Hence, we find it imperative to remind you of the honour code which every member of IIT Kharagpur is expected to follow. Failing to follow honour code and indulgence in the use of unfair means during examinations affect the integrity of the whole process, brings unfairness to the other fellow students and evades the confidence the company has on IIT Kharagpur. This will not only affect the internship but also the placements, as well as the number of PPO awarded. CDC has previously witnessed occasions when it had to take stern action against students involved in such malpractices following its responsibility towards the hiring firms. We would like to bring it to you attention that - the examinations conducted for internships and placements by CDC on behalf of the companies come under the purview of the regular semester examinations and the punishments are at par with the disciplinary actions taken by the examination section in addition to the provisions of debarring involved student(s) from CDC activities. - CDC affairs include collectively internships as well as placements. Hence, any malpractice during internship is liable to invite action against the student including that affecting the placements. CDC has previously barred students from placements on account of their unacceptable behaviour/ for not following process/ for non-cooperation during internships. The punishments have ranged from barring for the first 3 days of placements to the entire first phase of placements. As an institute of eminence, we do not find ourselves in a position to compromise on the name and integrity of our institution. While we are confident that such incidences shall not occur in our institute, CDC finds its responsibility to make you aware of the consequences. I wish you all the best for the endeavour to come. Chairman CDC
