About Me

What Research SaysMathematically gifted students will

- come into the classroom already knowing up to 70% of the curriculum to be taught that year

What this means for us- Students are assessed for prior knowledge in order

to appropriately apply curriculum to their needs.- I Can reports are generated to communicate what

your child already knows and has learned.- We will not be covering curriculum in the same

order or at the same pace as the regular classroom.

What Research SaysMathematically gifted students will

- learn more rapidly and with greater complexity

What this means for us- Faster pace based on student assessment- Fewer practice problems, less repetition- More problem solving and thinking activities- Students have the opportunity to show concept

mastery to reduce the number of practice problems required

Skills are considered to be mastered when a student scores 80% or above in those areas on a pretest or test.

If a student does not master a skill in the time frame it is being covered, they will continue to work on that skill throughout the year until they do master it.

Math fact fluency is 80 problems out of 100 in 5 minutes.
