the ”altstädter bauerngmoa“ stages a whip cracking demonstration on the re-vamped promenade in front of the land- haus. aperschnalzen has its roots in an ancient ritual for driving back the snow – the word aper signifies free from snow. it is an integral part of linz‘s folklore and has been performed here in its current form since 1925.
