OER Africa’s Health OER ProjectPartnership with five universities:

•Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST)

(Ghana)

•University of Ghana (UG) (Ghana)

•University of Cape Town (UCT) (South Africa)

•University of the Western Cape (UWC) (South Africa)

Project objectives

Create sustainable OER programs at the partner institutions with the

long-term goal of improving health care education and increasing the

number of trained healthcare professionals in Ghana and South

Africa

Objectives & Outcomes

Learning Objectives• Learn about higher education in Ghana and South Africa• Deepen knowledge about Ghanaian and South African copyright law• Become familiar with the Ghanaian national service policy• Build professional skills and cultural awareness regarding development work in Ghana and South Africa

Project Deliverables 1.Summaries of the over 30 meetings I conducted with four institution 2.An OER toolkit as a training resource3.Documentation of existing processes at KNUST and UG 4.Contributed to a two-year follow-on draft grant proposal with the Hewlett Foundation
